Position
We are seeking a highly technical (Senior) Research Technician/Associate to join our Neuroscience team. The candidate for this position will be part of a team identifying and validating neuronal populations and pharmacological targets in central and peripheral neural circuits for immune system modulation. We are seeking individuals with expertise in stereotactic surgery, in vivo animal handling and dosing, molecular biology, and immunofluorescence experience for this position.
Ideal candidates will use their scientific acumen and collaborative approach to partner across the interdisciplinary NILO team on all aspects of the drug discovery process. Leveling and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

What you'll do:
- Plan, conduct, and analyze experiments in a reproducible manner
- Perform in vivo rodent studies, including stereotactic surgery, behavioral testing and neuropharmacological characterization
- Execute target engagement determination by immunohistochemistry (IHC) /in situ hybridization (ISH)
- Perform qPCR, ELISA, next generation sequencing (NGS), and other common molecular biology / biochemistry techniques to advance research progress
- Maintain detailed and organized ELN records in accordance with company standards
- Assist with new technique or method development
- Collaborate cross-functionally with experts in Neuroscience, Immunology, Data Science, and Drug Discovery to advance target identification and validation
Key Qualifications:
- BS/BA in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry or a related discipline
- 1-5 years of experience working with rodents with an emphasis on in vivo neuroscience techniques, such as:
- Stereotactic surgeries (must have)
- Dose administration (IP, PO, ICV, IV)
- Behavioral /molecular neuropharmacological studies
- Hands on experience with modern neuroscience tools that interrogate circuit function by imaging (e.g. one/two-photon or bulk imaging) or manipulation (e.g. chemogenetics, or optogenetics) is highly desirable
- Experience with adhering to and executing detailed SOPs for fluorescent immunohistochemistry (IHC) or fluorescent in situ hybridization (ISH) workflows, from tissue extraction to image analysis
- Experience or familiarity with molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, NGS, single-cell sequencing is desirable
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Flexibility to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment and motivated to make significant contributions for the growth of a high-paced start-up
- A passion for high-quality, translational science and a desire to discover novel biology and new drugs
