Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Job Specialty: Speech Therapist
Job Duration: 13 months
Shift: 9 AM - 5 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric setting is highly desirable
License: Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license (or eligibility to obtain)
Certifications: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred
Must-Have: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
Job Description:
- Evaluate and assess residents for speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on residents' needs and goals.
- Provide therapy to residents with neurological disorders, dementia, post-stroke impairments, and other conditions affecting communication and swallowing.
- Conduct Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) or collaborate with radiology teams to assess swallowing function.
- Educate residents, families, and staff on communication strategies, swallowing precautions, and therapeutic exercises.
- Document evaluations, treatment progress, and discharge summaries in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and dietitians.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
