Job Title: RN Surgical Specialty

License: Current RN License, Multistate Compact RN License
Certifications: Basic Life Support
Must-Have: Stepdown or Med Surg Experience
Description:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments.
Notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients.
Observes physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary.
Administers medication as prescribed.
Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
Delivers patient care competently.
Interacts with family and patient, sharing the care plan while in the hospital and during discharge.
Informs patients and families of hospital procedures.
Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
Delegates tasks to support staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is required.
Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is essential.
Maintaining good working relationships with other employees is necessary.
Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is needed.
Some computer skills are necessary.
Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required.
Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing is preferred.
