The Manager, Material Management is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing day-to-day activities of Supply Chain Operations of the assigned hospitals(s). This includes procurement, inventory control, warehousing, shipping and receiving, PAR management and replenishment, supplies distribution, quality/regulatory and contract compliance, supply chain related information, and data management.

We are a full-service, acute care hospital with a 24/7 emergency department and nationally recognized patient safety. Now at 420 beds, SCH-CC is a general acute care hospital that utilizes many of the latest medical treatments and technologies. The hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient acute care services, including an orthopedic center, cardiovascular services, acute rehabilitation, sub-acute care, psychiatric care and chemical dependency programs. Additionally, SCH-CC operates a 24-hour emergency services center, which serves as a paramedic receiving station and is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and nurse specialists.
The Manager, Material Management is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing day-to-day activities of Supply Chain Operations of the assigned hospitals(s). This includes procurement, inventory control, warehousing, shipping and receiving, PAR management and replenishment, supplies distribution, quality/regulatory and contract compliance, supply chain related information, and data management.
Responsibilities
- Supports and ensures supplies for the organization by monitoring/resolving stock outs, back orders, credit holds, recalls and obsolescence, identifying supply risks and issues, and driving mitigation actions.
- Plans, coordinates, and directs daily departmental operations by providing effective oversight and guidance of staff and operations, including audits of activities and documentation. Appropriately educates and mentors, and leads/participates in company initiatives, such as employee engagement, to support a team-orientated culture. Acts as a coach and positive role model for staff by establishing and maintaining a safe work environment that fosters positive morale.
- Monitors key department performance/productivity indicators such as Open Order/PO Reports, PO Match Exception or Hold Report, Perpetual Inventory Valuation, Transactions errors and implementing mitigation actions promptly.
- Ensures that the Materials Management Department meet organizational performance/service and fiscal goals/targets including labor hours, customer service and satisfaction, quality, supply fulfilment that meets both patient care and quality goals by ensuring compliance with applicable policies and standards. Appropriately monitors and addresses performance issues, applying corrective or disciplinary action when needed. Effectively manages staff in compliance with all established policies, procedures, and legal guidelines.
- Serves as a technical and operational resource to both Materials Management Department and Facility Leadership Teams regarding supplies and service procurement, contracting and product sourcing, logistics, supply chain procedures, workflow, and functions.
- Ensures compliance/adherence to all National/GPO Supply Contracts, Supply Chain processes and procedures, Safety and all regulatory, accreditation standards and requirements.
- Completes all assignments, projects and any other tasks as assigned by Manager/Leadership thoroughly and timely.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Three (3) years' experience within Materials Management/Supply Chain in an Acute Care/Hospital Facility with at least one (1) year in a leadership/supervisor role
- High School Diploma
- Two (2) years hands-on experience with Computerized Inventory Management/Procurement Systems
- Strong Analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
- Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
- Computer literacy and proficiency
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- Demonstrates good math skills
