COMPENSATION

Salary Range: Min. $165,495 - Max. $226, 953 / Hay Points 1510

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Chief of Staff will act as a liaison and representative for the NYCT Department of Subways' Senior Vice President, to facilitate and coordinate communication and interaction among the senior staff, division heads and other internal and external stakeholders and government and community relations, on matters pertaining to policy, projects, political and operational issues. This role is also the main point of contact between the SVP, NYCT Department of Subways, employees, and employee representatives. The Chief of Staff will advise the Senior Vice President as a confidante and a strategic consultant; develop and implement objectives, short-term goals, and long-term vision; propose strategies for resolving multi-faceted interdepartmental and interagency issues; plan, direct and manage special projects as required. Additionally, the Chief of Staff will oversee administrative activities including, but not limited to managing meetings and correspondence, disseminate information, questions, and directives on behalf of the SVP, facilitate and coordinate communication and interaction among the senior staff, follow up with senior staff and brief the Senior Vice President accordingly. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to ensure effective and consistent managerial discipline.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college in Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation Management or a satisfactory equivalent and ten (10) years' experience, of which five (5) must have been in a managerial or supervisory capacity.

DESIRED SKILLS:
  • The ability to motivate, coach and direct a team of experienced senior managers and subject matter experts.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills and a well-developed business acumen, gained through experience in a high-pressure, high-visibility public agency environment.
  • An understanding of the current media environment and potential impact as it relates to the operations. Respond as necessary to press/media inquiries.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are necessary to be successful in this role.
