In this role as a Staff Engineer for our Automotive Solutions group, you will collaborate with automotive customers and work across FAC engineering groups to identify, prepare, demonstrate and promote solutions that leverage FANUC products to address their automation challenges. You will directly report to the General Manager - Automotive Solutions Engineering as well as work with Sales and Marketing on campaigns to increase our footprint of proposed solutions across the automotive industry.

In this role as a Staff Engineer for our Automotive Solutions group, you will collaborate with automotive customers and work across FAC engineering groups to identify, prepare, demonstrate and promote solutions that leverage FANUC products to address their automation challenges. Primary responsibilities will include
- Collaborate with auto OEM and Tier Suppliers to evaluate and understand their automation challenges
- Work across FAC ASE team and other FAC engineering teams to identify and propose solution concepts that leverage FANUC products and technologies to solve identified customer challenges
- Leverage robot expertise and automation process knowledge to assess proposed solution concepts and identify optimal targets for demonstration
- Solicit customer input on targeted solution concepts to gain alignment and acceptance
- Prepare / provide clear requirements for successful demonstration of targeted solution concepts
- Work with FAC Innovation Lab to create a successful demonstration of targeted solution concepts
- Generate promotional material to highlight the business value of targeted solutions
- Support presentation of demonstration and promotional material to automotive customers
- Assess customer robot interface configuration strategies and identify opportunities to promote the capabilities and expertise of FAC Global Standards Software team as a competitive differentiator
Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education
- Master's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, software) or related field
- 10+ years of robot automation application development / processing experience, or robotic application engineering support experience
- 10+ years of experience with automotive automation systems (body shop, general assembly, propulsion/powertrain, metal fabrication, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience deploying, configuring and programming robots in automation systems
- Demonstrated ability to effectively identify and specify viable robotic automation solutions
- Demonstrated ability to define and document requirements for successful robotic demonstrations
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management / Product Management / Application Engineering experience related to robot application, system or product implementation
- Diverse customer and application experience to effectively identify and promote new application concepts across strategic customer initiatives
- International customer experience
