The Industry Specialty team is a dedicated resource for Commercial and Middle Market relationships managers. Industry Specialists augment the local relationship teams' sales efforts, partner with risk to drive a consistent credit process, remain highly visible in and connected to the industry. Industry Specialists drive value by partnering with local bankers to deliver industry specific knowledge, bespoke content and customized solutions to meet the unique needs of companies within the respective industry.

Industry Specialists leverage their industry expertise, in partnership with local relationship bankers, to originate new business for Truist including acquiring new clients and deepening existing relationships. The Industry Specialist owns the development and execution of the strategy for a respective industry for commercial and middle market companies. Strategy may include product development, product enhancement, internal education, external visibility, prospecting and branding. The Industry Specialist is responsible for working across lines of business and with partner groups to ensure a coordinated industry-specific approach. Industry Specialist will produce industry specific content, develop customized industry solutions, provide market commentary and a view of competitive landscape to support our clients with highly complex financing needs. The Industry Specialist will partner closely with local teams to:

1) mine existing client base for clients whose relationship would benefit from industry-specific discussions,

2) develop a targeted prospect list and accelerate relationship development and

3) will leverage industry network to identify prospects in which a local banker should be introduced. Ultimately, the goal of the industry specialist is to use their industry expertise to drive new business for Truist and success begins with developing a clear and well defined approach to the market which has buy-in from stakeholders and partners and a solid, activation plan. Industry Specialists accelerate growth by identifying high value opportunities where we have a high likelihood of success building meaningful and valuable relationship.

This specific role is for an Industry Specialty to focus on K12/Independent, Private Education.

Responsibilities
  • Develops sales strategy for respective industry (including identification of focus sectors, revenue opportunity, activation plan and dependencies); responsible for gaining internal buy-in from line of business leadership and risk executives prior to launching initiative and ensuring alignment on an ongoing basis
  • Directs, builds, and fosters new and existing business relationships by providing sales, research and targeted prospect lists to local relationship managers within respective Industry specialty
  • Actively calls on clients and prospects within specialized industries in partnership with local banking team; drives consistency in sales approach
  • Generates customized industry-specific content and relevant insights for clients and prospects
  • Partners closely with risk team to identify and mitigate industry risks by understanding trends and the macro landscape (includes maintaining industry pricing comps)
  • Partners closely with the investment bank to facilitate the delivery of investment banking capabilities to commercial clients including support with enterprise value & corporate finance needs
  • Partners closely with capital markets to offer appropriate solutions to meet complex financing needs
  • Effectively engages with line of business and product partner leaders to ensure strategic alignment and, as needed, influence to appropriately shift our current approach
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the brand for respective industry inside Truist and externally in the market through conference calls, industry publications, webinars, speaking engagements, conference sponsorships and industry specific events
  • Maintains extensive network of industry contacts & proven ability to monetize industry knowledge


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years demonstrated work experience with expert knowledge in respective industry, banking and complex risk situations
  • Direct sales experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Banking or Capital Markets of 7+ years
  • Successful track record of delivering sales results through a highly distributed and matrixed model
  • Direct engagement with business owners, C-Suite executives and internal key stakeholders; experience delivering persuasive presentations and influencing executive-level constituents through impactful written and verbal communications
  • Strong consulting, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver clear and effective client sales presentations
  • Strong leadership skills with a strong customer-service orientation
  • Proven sales disciplines with a strategic focus and coordinated approach Strong presentation skills to create and deliver conclusion-oriented discussion documents and presentation; tenured experience working with & understanding needs of middle market companies
  • Strategic mindset and proven experience influencing within a matrixed organization with demonstrated ability to create a business plan/strategy & gain buy-in from respective stakeholders
  • Resourceful and possessing ability to navigate internal complexities and work effectively in a distributed model
