Job Title: Network Engineer (Palo Alto Firewall Experience)

Santa Clara, CA - Hybrid

Pay : 70-80/hr USD ( DOE)
Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer with expertise in Palo Alto firewalls to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and manage network security solutions while ensuring high availability and performance of enterprise networks. This role requires hands-on experience with firewall policies, VPNs, and network troubleshooting, along with a strong understanding of routing, switching, and security best practices.
Key Responsibilities:

• Design, configure, and maintain Palo Alto firewalls including policy management, threat prevention, and traffic inspection.
• Implement and manage VPN solutions (IPsec, SSL) and remote access configurations.
• Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and provide troubleshooting expertise.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.
• Manage and optimize network routing and switching using protocols like OSPF, BGP, and VLANs.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement security measures to protect against cyber threats.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network architecture and security projects.
• Create and maintain detailed network documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Provide technical support and mentoring to junior team members.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and security trends to enhance network protection.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering with a focus on Palo Alto firewalls.
• Proficiency in firewall rule configuration, NAT, IPS, URL filtering, and WildFire threat analysis.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, BGP, OSPF, and network security protocols.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, or Splunk).
• Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Familiarity with automation and scripting (Python, Ansible) is desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or equivalent certification preferred.
• Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) or other relevant network certifications are a plus.
