Salary: $180,000 to $200,000

Supplemental Pay: Bonus

Schedule: Work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.

The Director of Field Operations is responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance activities of solar energy facilities across multiple regions. This leadership role involves managing and guiding Regional Managers, ensuring they achieve the highest levels of performance, reliability, and compliance with all safety and environmental standards. The Director will develop strategic initiatives to improve operational efficiency, maximize the financial performance of solar assets, and foster a culture of excellence across all regions. The Director of Field Operations will report directly to the Vice President of Operations

What You'll Do
  • Provide oversight and strategic direction to Regional Managers and their teams, ensuring consistent execution of O&M activities across all regions.
  • Work with the Remote Operations Center and Engineering Teams to coordinate dispatch and real-time repairs to ensure performance of the solar facilities in the region are optimized.
  • Analyze performance data and KPIs to identify trends, drive improvements, and support decision-making across the portfolio.
  • Act as the key liaison between field operations and executive leadership, providing regular updates on regional performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure that all work orders and inspection reports for team/region are completed on a daily basis.
  • Perform regular field site visits to solar facilities in the region to ensure all standards are being upheld in the field.
  • Maintain a schedule for routine maintenance, service, troubleshooting and repair of equipment at solar photovoltaic facilities including but not limited to:
    • Single Axis trackers
    • Central or String Inverters
    • Transformers
    • AC and DC disconnects.
    • Substation equipment
  • Ensure the timely completion of all contractual obligations including preventative and corrective
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of company property such as vehicle, tools, PPE and safety equipment, and spare parts stock.
  • Maintaining service reports, inspection documentation, safety paperwork, and customer spare parts inventory as required with each project's contract.
  • Provide maintenance and troubleshooting training to technicians and others as needed.
  • Ensure technician training requirements and certifications are up to date.
  • Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards.
  • Hold and manage meetings with multiple teams including direct reports, internal teams, and customers.
  • Manage outage and repair projects by coordinating with vendors, subcontractors, technicians, and customers.
  • Follow through with open OEM warranty claims to ensure equipment is repaired in a timely matter.
  • Ability to work with business development to grow regions.

Must-Haves
  • 5+ years of experience PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, substation operations, network communications and monitoring or equivalent power plant operations.
  • 3+ years of experience managing and developing high-performing teams in a geographically distributed environment leading to successful power plant operations.
  • Strong leadership and time-management skills with experience in providing employee feedback, setting company goals, scheduling.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to implement effective strategies to achieve all safety and compliance requirements
  • Experience with operation of SCADA, DAS and UPS systems.
  • Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as, multimeter, Infrared cameras, sUAS (drones), IV Curve Tracing, IRT Testing.
  • Extensive experience working with a CMMS platform.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design/construction practices
  • Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite
  • Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Working knowledge and experience operating under OSHA 1910, NFPA 70E, and 70B
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with all levels of the organization.

Education and Certifications
  • OSHA 10 General Industry certificate

Working Environment and Physical Demand
  • Must have the ability to travel; work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.
  • Working outdoors in potentially inclement weather conditions.
  • Lifting and/or pushing objects up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand or walk for up to 10 hrs. a day.
