This is a Technical Specialist (TS) role for Body Exterior Electrical Distribution System (EDS) -Advanced Driver Systems Systems (ADAS) Interface Systems within the Body Exterior team, responsible for technical content, strategy & processes. In this role, you will serve as the Global Technical Specialist for all exterior related interface matters for ADAS and EDS systems ensuring robust design & delivery of components & vehicle systems. This position will lead or support all technical aspects of integrating ADAS and EDS related components into Body Exterior parts for electrical sub-systems. This and will include concept development, product development, verification & validation, launch/sign-off & ongoing support & quality assurance of products in the field. In addition, the technical specialist will oversee foundation document creation & enforcement of prevent recurrence, helping development of standardized tools, methods & execution.

Responsibilities

In this position...
  • Work as the Global Exterior EDS-ADAS Interface Systems TS, a recognized & accomplished technical expert who can interface with all levels of management & outside activities on ADAS & EDS interface systems related matters.
  • Assist Global Managers, Technical Leaders and chief engineers in the identification, resolution & presentation of department technical strategies, objectives, mission & values.
  • Act as technical architect/specialist for exterior ADAS & EDS interface systems on a global scale.


What you'll do...
  • Globally responsible for signoffs of ADAS & EDS related HIR requirements, design rules and test methods for all application programs at key milestones.
  • Act as technical resource internally & externally on component & vehicle systems for integration of ADAS and EDS components in Body Exterior systems. Provide technical support to global teams.
  • Analyze design interfaces with corresponding ADAS and EDS teams during the development process & address any potential failures & error states .
  • Lead or support design of new concepts to improve system performance & provide leadership & support for timely implementation.
  • Monitor & investigate new system interface technologies to maintain company position as industry leader in this field.
  • Guide & oversee training, mentoring & provide consulting to department engineers & other interfacing functions.
  • Support CCRG for exterior systems for ADAS and EDS interface related issues.
  • Provide technical advice to ASO and OGC as required.
  • Guide development of system tools, methods & processes.
  • Lead development & ongoing maintenance/update of commodity specific standards, specifications & verification methods.
  • Lead development & deployment of all commodity foundation documents including DFMEAs, SCCAFs, Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, DVP&R & integration manuals as related to ADAS-EDS interface systems.
  • Lead design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) as related to ADAS and EDS interface systems.
  • Lead & drive prevent recurrence process along with ADAS and EDS teams for interface issues.
  • Ability to share & present work to cross-functional teams and senior leadership.


Qualifications

You'll have...
  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic or a related physical science field of study.
  • 10+ years as a Body Exterior and/or ADAS/EDS Design and Release Engineer or similar automotive experience.
  • 6+ years' experience with job responsibilities specific to automotive engineering with focus in vehicle system integration of radars, cameras, lamps and other electrical/electronic components.
  • Demonstrated expert level knowledge in body exterior, ADAS and EDS and methods, including connectors, wiring, grommets, coax cables, water management, routing, attachment strategies, testing methods, etc.
  • Experience in all program phases from Pre-Program through Launch including one major program (scale 4-6).
  • Working knowledge of applicable Design, Analysis, Verification, Quality, Manufacturing, and Assembly methods.
  • Demonstrated improvements in customer satisfaction, reduction in warranty, total cost reduction.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Engineering toolsets - CAE / CATIA, TCE.
  • Excellent written / verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of strong leadership behaviors.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to teach / coach / mentor and document technical knowledge.
  • Self-starter - ability to work effectively with little oversight.
  • Candidate must provide an evidence book detailing technical experiences, key accomplishments, recognitions, training, publications, patents & other supporting evidence.

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related physical science field of study
    Patents / Invention, Defensive Disclosures / Trade Secrets and/or Technical Publications
  • Experience with GPDS and GTDS processes, timing and delivery requirements.
  • Experience in writing DFMEA's, SCCAF's, Engineering Specifications, Requirements, Design Rules or equivalent Core documents.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders including program teams, purchasing, manufacturing, STA & suppliers.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing advanced processes
  • Extensive experience & strong TMM working on safety critical systems & components.
