Overview:

As a Senior Systems Engineer you will execute Subject Matter Expert (SME) research and develop solutions for Increment 1 Tactical Systems for Mission Network and Network Modernization. The System Engineer will perform in a Development Operations environment (DEVOPS) and apply Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology and configuration management principles under the direction the program Principle Engineer.

Systems Engineer Responsibilities
  • Supervise a project's systems engineering events as performed by the technical team.
  • Monitor, organize, and manage a project's tasks.
  • Assess and calculate the technical features of a project plan to ensure that the systems engineering procedures are operating correctly.
  • Implement and maintain the computer systems so they are compliant with the organization's guidelines or SOP (Standards Operating Procedure).
  • Monitor and manage all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Establish, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Evaluate existing systems and provide technical direction to IT support staff.
  • Oversee the development of customized software and hardware requirements.
  • Plan and implement systems automation as required for better efficiency.
  • Formulate and design the security system to maintain data safety.
  • Focus on workflows, optimization methods, and risk management tools for given projects.
  • Oversee the availability of technical resources.
  • Maintain and supervise inventory.
  • Ensure a rapid response to any technical issues.
  • A Senior Systems Engineer confirms that the system strictly achieves a project's requirements and that a proper systems engineering method is being practiced.


Systems Engineer Requirements:
  • Proven track record of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience creating scripts (e.g. using Python, Linux, PowerShell) and setting up software for automation.
  • Exceptional knowledge of networking technologies (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
  • Familiarity with system administration and system monitoring.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, and face-to-face).


Desired Requirements:
  • Proficiency with VMWare ESXi
  • Proficiency with MS Windows Server
  • Experience with Agile Software Development
  • Experience with Army tactical communications systems (WIN-T Inc1, Inc2, NITE, baseband, transport, switches, routers, servers, ethernet and fiber optic standards, Network Modernization systems and commercial wireless products used by Army tactical systems).
  • Quick learner, creative, analytical thinker, resourceful, and able to work with a team or independently.
  • Troubleshooting problems by logically isolating the root cause.


Education / Certifications:
  • Education: B.S. Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Certification: DoD IAT Level II and III Certifications (Security+, CASP, CCNP).
