We are looking to hire a Project Specialist based out of our Calgary office. The Project Specialist is the primary point-person responsible for planning, executing, and delivering corporate projects on time, within scope, and within budget, while also meeting the quality standards expected by our client
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in departmental strategic and budgetary planning processes; prepare and administer work unit operating budget.
- Establish a Project Management Office (PMO) that can support Automation, Fabrication and Communications departments.
- Create and implement standardized project planning and management methodologies and work flows for all PM-related processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality products that meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and actively participate in all stages of project development including research, design, programming, testing and implementation.
- Ensure concise, timely reporting and interaction with customers, finance, procurement, departments, and Senior Vice President to ensure projects are delivered as per purchase order terms & conditions.
- Complete projects in accordance with PMI and PMBOK methodologies, utilising Microsoft Project Management software and ensures projects are delivered to meet/exceed 'as sold' proposals along with meeting customer satisfaction requirements.
- Regularly communicate and collaborate with other functional managers to discern areas for improvement, to share/gather information, to resolve cross-functional issues and to ensure an integrated, holistic approach to project management.
- Conduct exception reporting with departments, customers and updating of information when change notices are approved.
- Author and institutionalize procedural documents, forms, templates, training materials and work instructions to support PMO methodologies.
- All other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience specifically in Automation, Control Systems, Panel Fabrication, or Communication projects.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from initiation to completion.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools (e.g., PMI, Agile, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, etc.).
- PMP certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Automation and Communication projects.
- Demonstrated success in supporting proposal/estimating efforts across Automation, Fabrication and Communications.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities, deal with ambiguity and work with a variety of clients.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and influence at all levels.
- Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite including MS Project, SharePoint. Power Automate and Power Apps are assets.
