Chief Purpose of this position:
The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry welcomes applications for a faculty leadership position for a senior clinical psychologist (Associate Professor or Professor) to serve as its inaugural Division Chief. The position is responsible for the overall operations and advancement of the Department's clinical psychology enterprise and will report directly to the Department Chair.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include building programs of excellence, implementing new services and models of care, growing existing programs to meet the needs of patients, trainees, and the community, developing funded research, mentoring junior faculty, internal and external liaison, and the supervision of training directors. Serves as a catalyst for innovation, leading re-design and advancement of psychological services to bring the latest evidence-based practice models to our patients and community and health system.

- Clinical: Provide diagnostic assessments and therapy in outpatient, inpatient and consultative settings, including the development of new services as needed. Candidate should be an experienced psychologist and will maintain a practice as a member of the VCUHS medical staff.
- Administrative: Providing comprehensive and cohesive leadership and serves as liaison for the psychology divisions in the Department. Developing, enhancing, and expanding clinical services, education, training programs, and research.
- Teaching: Teaching and supervision of psychology, psychiatry, and social work trainees
- Research & Scholarship: Reasonable scholarly activities, such as publications, presentations at national meetings and participation in appropriate academic organizations. Opportunities for intramural and extramural funding can be available with a goal towards extramural funding. Collaboration with other faculty in the Department and beyond is encouraged
- Service: Serve on divisional, departmental, SoM, University, and Health system committees as applicable and in a professional capacity in their field
- Completed an APA-accredited Ph.D. or Psy.D. program
- Eligible for licensure as a clinical psychologist in Virginia
- Significant clinical leadership experience in a clinical psychology program at a major academic medical center, including clinical practice oversight, strategic planning, direct faculty/provider oversight, managing staffing and recruitment, and fostering of clinical research
- Proven background in clinical care optimization, quality, safety, and patient engagement.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
