The Opportunity
UTS offers a rich array of co-curricular programs designed for students who thrive in an innovative and challenging educational environment. We are looking for an innovative Computer Science teacher to join our Mathematics and Computer Science Department and also take on the role of Director of VEX Robotics Program, and inspire the brightest minds in our fast-growing robotics co-curricular program.
This full-time position will cover three (3) computer science teaching sections and the equivalent of two (2) sections to support the development and coordination of the school's Robotics Program. These are some of the duties you will have as the Director of VEX Robotics:

The successful candidate will be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers. Applicants with Honours Specialist Qualifications and/or a graduate degree in Computer Science, and STEM or engineering background, as well as Robotics competition experience, including VEX, or First as coach or participant, will be given priority consideration.

- Lead and Develop the UTS VEX Robotics Program: Guide aspiring engineers to prepare for tournaments with competition-ready robots and innovative strategies
- Collaborate & Innovate: Work with UTS staff and student leaders to enhance the program's structure, coordinate material and gadgetry purchases, and drive program excellence.
- Be at the Forefront: Keep up-to-date with the latest robotics technologies and trends to inject fresh, innovative ideas that empower highly motivated students to succeed.
- Foster a Supportive Culture: Cultivate an inclusive, creative, and resilient team environment where students embrace challenges as learning opportunities.
- Be a Competition Jedi: Provide mentorship, supervision, and inspiration during VEX tournaments (virtual or in-person) to help students reach their full potential.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates applying for this position will have:
- A minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in Computer Science.
- Intermediate/Senior qualifications in Computer Science.
- Robotics competition experience (as coach or participant).
- Strong grasp of CAD software
The successful candidate will be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers. - A full-time (100%FTE) OSSTF Bargaining Unit position starting August 26, 2025.
- Target Hiring Range of: $93,706- $131,914 (placement on the grid is determined based on qualifications and years of eligible and related experience)
