Job Summary
The Senior Director of System Respiratory Care provides executive leadership across all markets, overseeing the strategic planning, direction, and operational control of respiratory care services. This role encompasses clinical, business, and multidisciplinary functions for patients of all ages, including neonates, pediatrics, and adults, as well as any additional assigned services.
Working in close collaboration with directors and managers, the Senior Director ensures system-wide consistency, fostering alignment and integration across all markets. This position is responsible for spearheading operational initiatives at the tertiary-level facilities while also providing oversight and guidance to leadership at community hospitals.
The Senior Director is expected to demonstrate a high level of autonomy, effectively managing priorities, delegating responsibilities, and making critical resource assignments with minimal oversight. This role requires strong strategic vision, the ability to drive system-wide improvements, and a commitment to operational excellence in respiratory care services.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited school for respiratory care required. A Master's degree in Business Administration/Healthcare Administration or related field required.
Experience: A minimum of five years progressive supervisory/management experience required.
Licensure/certification: Registered by National Board of Respiratory Care and RCP licensure in appropriate state required.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Develops and implements the vision, mission, and long-term strategic goals for respiratory care services.
- Analyzes internal and external economic environments to drive business growth and enhance service offerings.
- Fosters strong relationships with physicians, nursing teams, and facility leaders to ensure integrated and effective respiratory care.
- Oversees operational and capital budget preparation, ensuring financial goals are met and standardized across all facilities.
- Leads special projects and responds to employee concerns regarding respiratory care operations.
- Ensures system-wide collaboration and integration of best practices in respiratory care, from acute to outpatient and wellness settings.
- Administers the organization's respiratory protection plan.
Interpersonal Effectiveness & Communication
- Cultivates an inclusive and respectful work environment that values diversity and open communication.
- Provides timely feedback and engages in regular dialogue with staff and peers.
- Utilizes effective communication methods to enhance decision-making and patient care outcomes.

Quality Improvement & Compliance
- Identifies and implements national best practices to improve quality, safety, and service effectiveness.
- Establishes performance metrics and ensures patient placement decisions align with clinical capabilities.
- Collaborates with other departments to enhance respiratory care protocols and patient outcomes.
- Ensures all respiratory care services comply with professional standards, federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation requirements, and internal policies.
Customer Service & Patient Experience
- Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing patient, physician, and community concerns promptly and effectively.
- Develops strategies to improve patient experience metrics, including HCAHPS scores.
- Educates staff and implements improvement plans based on patient feedback.
Human Resources & Organizational Development
- Provides performance feedback and coaching to leaders and team members.
- Supports recruitment and retention efforts to maintain adequate staffing levels across the system.
- Facilitates staff training and professional development to meet evolving clinical and operational needs.
- Participates in hiring processes and fosters a team-oriented approach to decision-making.
Financial Management & Resource Allocation
- Establishes performance criteria and regularly reviews operational efficiency.
- Holds managers accountable for budget, productivity, team engagement, and patient experience.
- Collaborates with the finance team to optimize staffing models and resource utilization.
- Ensures staffing levels align with workload demands and budget constraints.
Consulting & Advisory Role
- Provides expert analysis and recommendations to various departments and leadership teams.
- Oversees ABG lab policies and regulatory compliance to ensure continuity with system standards.
- Works closely with leadership to align system policies with best practices in respiratory care.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensures all respiratory care operations adhere to regulatory agency standards and accreditation requirements.
- Implements compliance measures to maintain excellence in patient care and operational integrity
Qualifications
