POSITION: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for all operational functions across Weld Re-8 including Human Resources, Finance, Operations and maintenance, transportation, compliance, safety and Technology services. The COO is responsible for developing, establishing and overseeing the operational and business processes and systems along with working with the CAO (Chief Academic Officer) to assist with services necessary to best serve our 2,500 students, across 6 schools.

POSITION DETAILS: Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Weld Re-8 schools, the COO is a central member of the leadership team, responsible for key operational functions that support the Weld Re-8 vision and goals. The COO directly manages a team with 6 direct reports, and will oversee all operational functions including student recruitment and enrollment, school operations, meals, transportation, procurement, student information systems, compliance and reporting, safety, and school bond and grant initiatives. The COO ensures the seamless execution of Weld Re-8's operational functions and serves as a critical thought partner to the Superintendent and members of the leadership team.

The COO, leads, and promotes, a culture, and strategy, of continuous improvement throughout the district office that compliments the CAO and also supports the continuous improvement efforts throughout the instructional cycle. Provides administrative direction and leadership to the members of the operations and business teams.

SALARY RANGE: Administrative Salary Schedule plus district comprehensive benefits package. Salary range of approximately $106,144-$164,652depending on experience and education.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
  • Bachelor's degree with equivalent work experience required; MBA or Master's degree in a related field strongly preferred
  • Five years or more experience within the Educational system at a leadership level such as Principal, Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, or District level leadership position is preferred, experience in similar leadership role outside of Education will be considered
  • Experience in successfully planning, integrating resources and managing the implementation of projects, systems and processes that are meant to deliver high quality results and growth opportunities
  • A track record of leading teams in diverse functional areas while serving as a member of a leadership team
  • Operations experience within a school based setting or high functioning social sector organization strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of organizational alignment and school budgeting preferred
  • Experience launching new sites or large scale projects strongly preferred
  • Exceptional systems and process orientation, with experience designing complex and scalable systems/processes from scratch and improving upon existing ones
  • Ability to define strategic issues clearly despite ambiguity, provide sound recommendations, and take all critical information into account when making timely, tough decisions
  • Prior experience in supervision of a work force in excess of 50 associates
  • Strong understanding of contract development and partnership agreements
  • Record of achieving aggressive results, ability to establish meaningful metrics to support data driven decisions
  • Passion for the vision of Weld Re-8 to support our students to be prepared beyond graduation, whether that be career readiness, college or military
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Drive excellence across all operational functions including human resources, student recruitment and enrollment, school operations, meals, transportation, procurement, student information systems, compliance and reporting, safety, summer and school year institutes, and school funding measures such as Bonds and Grants.
  • Lead the design and implementation of systems, processes, and services that support Weld Re-8 schools and programs in delivering best-in-class educational outcomes
  • Continue to refine and build a sustainable, scalable, cost-efficient operational infrastructure that supports Weld Re-8's continued growth
  • Continue to evaluate and make recommendations to the leadership team on potential for process improvements, cost savings and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Ensure operational strategies are translated into specific objectives and plans (with contingencies); integrate and align efforts across functions, locations; set realistic yet aggressive timeframes for achieving key objectives
  • Make recommendations for organizational structure to encourage collaboration, growth and opportunities, and a unified culture among central office staff and school sites, ensuring all team members feel valued, supported and inspired
  • Incorporate a strong focus on the community, its partnerships and strategic alliances and relationships with the City of Fort Lupton creating increased opportunities for the Weld Re-8 School District.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Assignment starting date for COO will be July 7, 2025 (240 day contract)
  • All contracts of personnel shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Education.
  • Direct deposit of payroll is a condition of employment.
  • Position reports to the Superintendent
  • No smoking is allowed in any Weld County School District Re 8 buildings.
