THE PROJECT
The DarkStar Group's team uses AI/ML approaches (including NLP) to speed the analysis of massive amounts of aging data to determine what can and cannot be declassified, and the resulting redaction of portions of data items. This effort is critical to protecting our exponentially-growing classified data sets and to responding to an increased number of FOIA requests. The team consists of Data Scientists, ML experts, Software Engineers, Data Analysts, and Systems Integrators working very closely with groups of customer Analysts.
Work on this program takes place in the Herndon, VA area (we cannot support remote work) and requires a TS/SCI + Polygraph clearance (acceptable to this customer).

THE ROLE
- This position will focus on creating and maintaining containers as well as enabling container deployments and implementations of serverless architectures within AWS. Additionally, we need our DevOps Engineer to be versatile and be enthusiastic to take on new problems. We believe that in addition to hiring great talent, a diversity of perspectives, ideas, and cultures leads to the creation of better products.
- The candidate must have detailed experience with AWS and all of its resources (or least its main ones EC2, S3, cloud formation stacks and RDS), as well as very familiar with Cloud formation scripts to create and maintain AWS resources. The candidate must also have experience with programming in an any Programming language, preferably in Ruby, Python, javascipt, Groovy or NodeJS. The candidate must have experience with using the AWS CDK in any of its supported languages: Ruby, Python, Java, NodeJS, etc. Experience using Mesos-Marathon container orchestration is highly desired.
- Java, C# experience would be nice, but it is not mandatory. However, this experience will be vital in helping the development teams utilize AWS correctly.
- This person must be willing to help in all cases as well as be familiar with architectural best practices. He/She will have experience with Jenkins and building Jenkins Pipelines using Groovy, Python and bash shell scripts.
- The engineer must have extensive experience working with this Customer.
- Object Oriented Programming experience
- Experience with AWS (e.g., CloudFormation, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, and ElasticSearch)
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., RDS, Oracle, Postgres) MySQL
- Experience in continuous integration technology (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab/GitHub)
- Experience with interacting in a Linux environment (ex - Bash scripting)
- Experience with Jenkins and creating Jenkins Pipelines while having and understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment best practices
- BS/BA in Computer Science OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Groovy or bash shell scripting
- Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
- May have deep knowledge of project management. Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems.
- Experience with application platforms such as Spring Boot or Angular
- Experience with log analytics tools such as Splunk or ElasticSearch
- Experience working with containers using Docker or Podman
- Experience with container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes and Mesos
- Experience in communicating with users, technical teams, and senior management
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Microservices
- Experience with front end development using Angular 10
- Comfortable managing competing priorities and are able to bring order to ambiguous scenarios
- Familiarity with Source code management and integration (ex - GitHub/GitLab)
- Experience in an Agile environment (JIRA, Confluence)
