Infectious Disease -Physician - Full-time

Position Objective:

The Infectious Disease Physician will ensure proper disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery of both inpatient and outpatient infectious disease programs. The Infectious Disease Physician consults with patients and clinical teams to determine the appropriate course of treatment.

Clinical Responsibilities

The Infectious Disease Physician will serve as a consultant to medical and surgical services at LH-Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Perform history taking and physical examination, review relevant laboratory and radiographic information to make diagnoses and recommend best treatments and approaches..
Communicates recommendations to other members of the care team to discuss patient care.
Institute consistent process by standardizing care through care plans and/or order sets and daily practice.
Perform a wide range of medical duties covering infectious disease and facilitates patient access to medical care by recommending appropriate referrals as needed????
Provides recommendations for definitive evaluation for infectious diseases through phone consultation, telemedicine, and authorization and evaluation of referred patients as appropriate
Supervises the activities and deployment of Mid-Level providers on the Infectious Disease service
Shared call with other ID physicians
Staff ID clinic for post-acute care follow up
Organizational Responsibilities

Collaborates with acute medicine provider teams to ensure best practices
Participates in teaching residents and provides education to nursing and clinical support staff in infectious disease care principles..
Participates in design and development of clinical pathways, care management protocols and performance improvement initiatives for infectious disease patients.
Consults with medical staff to discuss optimal methods of treatment for specific diagnoses and facilitates achievement of care coordination goals through this peer-to-peer communication.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Required Minimum Education. Board Certified in Infectious Disease
Required Minimum Experience: N/A
Required License/Certifications:

Graduate of an accredited school of medicine
Completion of residency in specified field of specialty.
Current valid, unrestricted state license to practice medicine, DEA and CDS.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Characteristics

Expert knowledge to perform and/or supervise infectious disease processes in accordance with policy and procedures.
Experience in and dedication to the role of quality improvement initiatives.
Interest in outcomes and other forms of research.
Analytical ability necessary to evaluate and determine health status of patient and implement proper care plan
Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach, and counsel patients, instruct health care personnel on procedures and treatments
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with constant collaboration within and across provider treams
Excellent motivator and communicator, both written and verbal.
Ability to work creatively and independently.
Fundamental knowledge of PC based applications.
Desire to participate in teaching activities and mentoring of medical students and residents.
Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.

Physical Demands -

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
