JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Manager, International Expansion |Private Client Corporate Services will be responsible for the delivery of tax services and provide accounting services to our clients. Responsibilities include reviewing Canadian corporate, trust, partnership, and personal tax returns (including related information returns and elections), interacting closely with clients to provide tax planning, participate in consultation and working closely with the Managing Directors on delivering innovative tax planning strategies.

Responsibilities include reviewing Canadian corporate, trust, partnership, and personal tax returns (including related information returns and elections), interacting closely with clients to provide tax planning, participate in consultation and working closely with the Managing Directors on delivering innovative tax planning strategies.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the review of personal (T1), corporate (T2), trust returns (T3), T4s, T5s, HST, T1135s, T1134s, T106s, CDA elections, etc.
- Review of compilation engagements.
- Researching tax issues and advising clients on tax impact of certain transactions.
- Maintaining client files to ensure accurate and timely completion of returns and schedules.
- Participate in the evaluation of profitability of each client engagement and recommend changes as required.
- Provide support to clients on general questions regarding year end.
- Compiling financial statements for corporate tax filings, assisting with year-end work.
- Working closely with clients and providing exceptional client service.
- Corresponding with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and reviewing CRA tax return assessments.
- Assists with projects and balancing workload among staff to improve workflow efficiency within the corporate accounting team.
- Acts as a resource for Associates & Preparers, as well as the other groups of the Firm; provide training as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA CA, CPA, Master's in Taxation, LLM in Taxation, JD or Enrolled Agent. (Please note that any candidate hired into this position that doesn't currently possess one of the aforementioned credentials/designations may be required to secure one within one year from commencement of employment).
- At least 5 years work experience in corporate tax and/or public accounting. Minimum 3 years managing work of tax associates.
- Participates in career development program to improve managerial, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with 1040 US personal returns would be considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of a broad range of Corporate Tax issues and strong research, decision-making skills and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to assist with the demands of multiple clients efficiently and effectively.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Willing to be proactive and demonstrates ability to be self-directed and motivated.
- Superior analytical, technical and tax accounting skills.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team of tax professionals.
- Proficiency in use of computer tax preparation, tax research and tax planning software programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capacity to work well in a team environment.
- Capable of effectively developing and maintaining client relationships
- Experience or familiarity with CCH IFirm, CCH Axcess, CCH XCM(Axcess Workflow), CCH Engagement or Caseware or Countable Dynamics 365, Quickbooks, Simply Accounting, Xero, considered an asset.
- Proficient with software applications/programs i.e. MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Willingness to learn new software packages
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional overtime work required throughout the year. Heavy overtime work required for deadlines.
