DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In your role as an Adult Basic Education Teacher within the Department of Corrections, you will play a crucial part in the educational development of adult offenders. Your responsibilities will include designing comprehensive lesson plans that outline the subject matter and activities to be addressed, the order in which instruction will occur, the resources required, and the criteria for evaluating lesson success. Additionally, you will develop assessment strategies and analyze the data collected to assess the learning capabilities and preparedness of the adult inmates. Furthermore, you will create and administer quizzes, tests, and practical exercises aimed at guiding students' learning paths and evaluating their individual progress and achievements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64,559.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of paraprofessional experience assisting educational staff in a classroom setting that includes or is supplemented by one year of experience providing classroom instruction or possession of an active Instructional 1 or 2 certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education; or
- A bachelor's degree in education which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of an institution-approved teaching practicum; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes or is supplemented by completion of an institution-approved teaching practicum, one year of experience providing classroom instruction, or possession of an active Instructional 1 or 2 certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
