Job Goal: The Director of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI) is responsible for instructional leadership of Southland College Prep High School. This includes providing oversight for curriculum and instruction, coaching teachers, leading professional development, responding to data results to ensure students maintain are academically excellence and evaluates teachers. The DCI is an active member of the school's leadership team which regularly collaborates with the CEO and the leadership team.

Sample list of job responsibilities:
- Administer and promote the school's Mission, Vision, Core Values and Goals.
- Using Charlotte Danielson's, Framework for Teaching, The DCI will follow the Southland Evaluation model to guide observations, lesson plan design, assessments, and quality pedagogical practices to improve student learning.
- Provide knowledgeable and innovative leadership.
- Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression within the faculty for all students, including those with learning needs and from vulnerable groups.
- Possess a clear and effective pedagogy that embodies the belief that instruction must be engaging, relevant, and rigorous; ability to clearly communicate this pedagogy with both teachers and external partners.
- Use student progress and achievement data from the PSAT, SAT, PreACT, and ACT, and formative assessments to systemically identify under-performance and assist teachers in improving assessment performance.
- Promote effective department teamwork and motivate staff to ensure effective, professional, working relations.
- Establish clear expectations and constructive working relationships with the faculty and department chair persons to develop an acceptance of accountability.
- Attend relevant meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required or necessary.
- Work effectively with the administrative team to problem solve and create an academic environment that is conducive to high levels of learning.
