The Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day management of all on-site construction activities. This role ensures that work is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. The Superintendent will supervise field personnel and subcontractors to drive the project schedule, maintain budget expectations, and ensure all construction practices align with safety protocols and client standards.

The Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day management of all on-site construction activities. This role ensures that work is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. The Superintendent will supervise field personnel and subcontractors to drive the project schedule, maintain budget expectations, and ensure all construction practices align with safety protocols and client standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop the overall job plan and master project schedule.
- Create a project-specific staffing plan, defining team size, responsibilities, and talent needs.
- Establish subcontractor performance schedules and coordinate all major material deliveries.
- Organize and lead weekly planning and scheduling meetings with the project team.
- Plan the layout of the jobsite, including staging areas, storage zones, and office trailers.
- Develop contingency strategies for inclement weather or unforeseen site conditions.
- Hire and assign field staff, ensuring duties and responsibilities are clearly defined.
- Ensure timely preparation of purchase orders and accurate delivery dates for all critical materials.
- Set up a comprehensive onsite record-keeping system, including daily reports, inspection logs, and safety documentation.
- Coordinate with the Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) Director to implement a site-specific safety program.
- Oversee and direct all field operations for the project.
- Supervise subcontractors and self-perform crews to ensure work aligns with contract documents, safety standards, and schedule goals.
- Enforce adherence to project specifications, quality expectations, and infection control procedures as applicable in healthcare environments.
- Conduct daily site inspections to monitor safety compliance, site cleanliness, and progress.
- Actively participate in the coordination of inspections, utility connections, and regulatory reviews (e.g., AHJ, Joint Commission, OSHPD, etc., where applicable).
- Proactively manage jobsite logistics and resolve conflicts or schedule impacts in real-time.
- Ensure that all aspects of construction support uninterrupted operation of adjacent or active hospital areas where applicable.
- Support project closeout activities, including punch list management, quality assurance, and turnover of life safety systems
Qualifications:
- 5-7+ years of experience in commercial construction with proven experience in healthcare construction.
- Demonstrated experience in inpatient acute care hospital projects. Preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and maintain a culture of accountability and safety.
- Thorough understanding of building systems (structural, MEP, etc.) and construction sequencing.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex field logistics.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling software and project documentation systems
