Job Description
Job Title: CT Scan Technologist

Job Specialty: Diagnostic Imaging

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Evening - Varied shifts, 4x10s

Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 hours per week

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required

License: NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License required

Certifications: ARRT CT Certification required, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Must-Have: High School Diploma or equivalent, Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program

Job Description:

- Perform complex CT procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation.
- Use professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patient's clinical history, ensuring information is documented and scanned into PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the patient and/or family member, and scan into EPIC.
- Identify and/or administer contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Verify the appropriateness of the exam prescription. Communicate with the Radiologist and Referring Physician for additional information or new prescriptions if needed.
- Call physicians to clarify prescriptions in accordance with CT protocols.
- Verify insurance authorized exam script and send exam modification forms for insurance re-verification.
- Obtain outside studies, then schedule them in EPIC ensuring CD and reports are available in PACS for Radiologist comparison.
- Provide exam copies to patients or requesting physicians.
- Evaluate radiographs using the PACS System to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value.
- Utilize consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from medical records to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety.
- Determine patient preparation for procedures, including shielding and immobilization devices.
- Determine appropriate type and dose of contrast administration based on protocols.
- Offer accurate explanations and instructions to patients, addressing and documenting any concerns.
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to guidelines.
- Monitor patient's physical condition for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Work scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
- Adhere to policies regarding Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
- Lift, push, and pull as required to deliver adequate patient care.
- Identify patient population needs to modify and deliver appropriate care.
- Adhere to the standards identified in the Organizational Competencies and Standards of Behavior.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and understanding of radiological positioning of the human body.
- Understanding mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware.
- Thorough knowledge of the PACS system.
- Maintain CEU Credits.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

- Six months of CT experience.
- Knowledge of Epic and HIS/RIS systems.
- ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license preferred.
