Description:
Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Service Operations, the IT Automation Engineer is responsible for expert level knowledge of Brown University Health's server and network environment. Responsible for all operational aspects of maintaining Brown University Health datacenter systems including Windows Server, Linux, VMware ESX, Citrix XenApp. Design and implementation of systems to manage application and systems monitoring.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts, workflows, and tools to automate routine IT tasks, including system provisioning, configuration management, software deployment, and monitoring.
Implement and manage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions, such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform, to automate the provisioning and management of servers, networks, and cloud resources.
Write and maintain scripts in languages like Python, PowerShell, or Shell scripting for automating repetitive tasks and managing system configurations.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for software development, ensuring efficient and reliable code deployment.
Set up automated monitoring and alerting systems to proactively detect and address IT infrastructure issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their automation needs and develop solutions that improve operational efficiency.
Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation for all automation processes and tools.
Ensure that automated processes and tools meet security and compliance standards and make necessary adjustments as needed.
Provide support and troubleshooting for automation-related issues and incidents.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Other information:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or IT Security is preferred.
Industry certification on management and operation of at least one of: Cisco UCS, Citrix
XenApp, Azure, AWS, Windows Server, Cisco networking and VMWare
EXPERIENCE:
Experience with Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to document processes clearly.
Knowledge of IT security and compliance best practices.
Ability to document technical solutions to meet business needs.
