The Project Engineer technically leads a staff which may include a project staff engineer and/or CAD Designer, while the entire team reports to a Project Manager. Position requires working independently to plan, execute, and oversee engineering tasks in order to complete a project.

Position Summary
The Project Engineer technically leads a staff which may include a project staff engineer and/or CAD Designer, while the entire team reports to a Project Manager. Position requires working independently to plan, execute, and oversee engineering tasks in order to complete a project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering analyses, designs, calculations, and reports for project components, subject to Project Manager review.
- Design grading and drainage systems for site improvements.
- Develop utility piping systems, including sanitary, water main, fire protection, and storm drainage.
- Perform hydrology and hydraulic calculations for both gravity and pressure piping systems, as well as above-ground conveyances.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams, including landscape architects, land use planners, attorneys, owners, and facility managers.
- Prepare project drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Assist in preparing proposals and fee estimates for potential projects of limited scope and complexity.
- Provide construction assistance, including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), visiting job sites, reviewing submittals, and coordinating design revisions.
- Develop and present project-specific or technical presentations to clients, technical organizations, and in-house staff.
- Mentor staff engineers.
- Prepare plan reviews, permit applications, analyze zoning ordinances, and evaluate land use.
- Attend and participate in public meetings related to projects, such as planning commission and city council meetings.
- Stay current on legal and industry regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Formal Education, Licenses and Certifications
- Bachelor's Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Texas P.E. License or ability to obtain
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience showing progressively increasing responsibility.
- Proficient in AutoCAD for land development applications; Civil 3D preferred. Working knowledge of typical computer software programs used for civil engineering design and management (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Healthcare, Education, Residential, Commercial, or Industrial site development project experience is preferred.
- Civil engineering experience in site development including site layout, grading, sewer and other utility design, pavement design, permitting, budgeting, jurisdictional agency interaction, and all other aspects of site development for a wide variety of project types preferred.

- Effective written and verbal communication is necessary. Ability to shape communications for specific audiences, and be able to accept and receive feedback.
- Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for noticing small errors on engineering designs.
