Director of Curriculum K-12
Overview:
The Director of Curriculum will oversee and manage the comprehensive development, implementation, and evaluation of the Kindergarten through Grade 12 districts' curriculum to ensure strict adherence to state standards and the application of best practices. The Director of Curriculum will work in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
Schedule:
This is a 12-month position, 8 hours per day by mutual agreement
Salary & Benefits:
$150,000 annual salary. Comprehensive benefits
Travel Requirements:
Expectation of travel to schools within the three districts and professional meetings as required

Qualifications:
- CT State Certification, Intermediate Administration or Supervision (#092) required
- Driver's License required
- Knowledge of curriculum development processes, models of instruction and assessment
- Demonstrated success in leading school and district improvement efforts
- Supervisory experience
- Knowledge of best practices and research related to effective teaching, learning and programming approaches
- Skilled facilitator of professional development
- Communication, leadership, planning, supervisory and budgeting skills
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development
- Design and refine comprehensive curriculum frameworks K-12 in all academic areas
- Implement and enhance curriculum writing, training, and vetting processes
- Conduct research and incorporate innovative educational strategies
- Ensure curriculum alignment with all relevant state and national standards
- Align and support the development of our Vision of a Graduate into curriculum documents
- Oversee the textbook adoption process related to new curriculum programs
Instructional Leadership
- Provide advanced professional development opportunities for teachers/administrators on high leverage instructional practices
- Conduct program evaluations relating to instructional materials and resources
- Support the implementation of curriculum K-12
- Use state and local data to determine areas of strength and areas in need of curricular enhancement
Assessment and Evaluation
- Support the administration/implementation of our district(s) diagnostic screening tool
- Work with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to support and enhance the MTSS process in schools
- Analyze student performance data from state and local assessments and present information with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction
- Implement effective data-driven instructional strategies
- Lead and oversee curriculum development, training, vetting and implementation support as described in the strategic plan
- Conduct educator and leader observations/site visits and provide comprehensive, supportive feedback
Collaboration and Communication
- Engage with administrators, teachers, and parents throughout the curriculum development process
- Support administrators with implementing new curricula in their schools
- Disseminate curriculum changes and updates through formal channels
- Organize and conduct curriculum-related meetings with all stakeholder groups
- Conduct orientation sessions for new leaders and educators related to curriculum documents and implementation
- Address questions and/or concerns regarding academic programs and curricula
Budget Management
- Manage curriculum budgets with fiscal responsibility in connection with the 5-year curriculum writing plan
- Pursue funding opportunities for curriculum initiatives
