A finance department's activities can have a tremendous impact on an organization and its general performance, eXp Realty is no exception. Our finance team provides critical information to leadership for effective management and successful outcomes. We work closely with management throughout the organization, we manage equity, we identify risk management, ensure cash flow management as well as handle tax management. As a successful member of the finance team, you will problem solve, be highly analytical, extremely detail oriented and be a top notch communicator.

What you will do:

The Tax Information Reporting Manager will be a key addition to the Finance Department as eXp continues its rapid global expansion. eXp is looking for a highly motivated and experienced tax professional.

The Tax Information Reporting Manager is part of the Tax Organization that provides global tax compliance, planning, transfer pricing, tax reporting, special projects, and tax audit defense for the Company primarily focused on handling US income tax compliance. This role will collaborate with other members of the Tax Organization and external advisors to ensure proper execution of the federal, state/local and US international tax reporting.

This position will work closely with Brokerage Operations, eXpert Care Desk, Transaction Operations, Accounting, and Legal teams to ensure proper data collection, reporting and retention. Further this position will handle Tax Information reporting and support Indirect Tax function on as needed basis. A successful candidate will possess keen analytical skills and experience with disbursements reporting and vendor administration. The Manager will also have strong communication and managerial skills with the ability to interface with multiple groups within tax as well as across functional groups outside the tax function. The Manager must be a self-motivated team player with 1099 reporting experience, leadership and organizational skills, effective and efficient communication, good project management, a history of producing high-quality timely work product, and intellectual curiosity. The Manager must strive for continuous improvement in process, deliverables, leadership and professional expertise.
  • Manage cross functional team during peak season focusing on accurate and timely completion of the annual 1099/1096/1042 process.
  • Work with a third-party vendor to ensure B notices are processed and mailed in a timely manner
  • Track and record B notices responses with updated W9
  • Assist with determining 1099 IRS backup withholding obligation
  • Prepare annual IRS Form 945
  • Manage IRS 1099 assessments and notices relevant to the TIN mismatching.
  • Review and validate tax forms (W-8, W-9), FATCA and CRS certificates submitted by users, addressing inquiries regarding these documents.
  • Conduct regular assessments of S information reporting and withholding processes in compliance with IRC Chapter 3, 4, and 61, as well as state tax reporting, ensuring audit readiness for cross-functional teams like Accounts Payable, Transaction Operations, Treasury, Brokerage Operations, Legal, etc.
  • Assist in drafting and implementing tax policies on tax reporting issues including reporting withholding applicability and collection, validation and retention of tax documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with Brokerage Operations, IT, Accounts Payable, Legal and other teams to implement proper procedures and process improvements related to data collection and tax assessments related to indirect tax and revenue reporting.
  • Identify opportunities and assist in implementation of the operation efficiency enhancements and process automation, incorporation of AI assistance.
  • Maintain the required level of technical knowledge.
  • Assist with other special projects, as needed
  • Other Duties as Assigned

How you will grab our attention:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4-6+ years of experience in public accounting or industry in tax or accounting
  • Experience working in or with publicly traded companies.
  • Experience with preparing/reviewing/efiling 1099/1096/1042 and similar forms
  • Experience reviewing W-9 and W8 forms, FATCA reporting to tax authorities
  • Working knowledge of research databases
  • Experience with enterprise software such as Vertex, Avalera, etc.
  • Experience developing and booking journal entries
  • Experience with Microsoft and Google Suite tools required
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel/sheets skill set required
  • Must have strong math aptitude and computer skills
  • Excellent research skills, including a focus on documentation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self motivated with the willingness to learn
  • Strong time-management and project management skills
  • Ability to analyze financial statements/schedules and write commentary to explain results/variances in a concise and clear manner
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and the pressures associated with tax compliance deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Ability to leverage technology to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Demonstrated process improvement skills
  • Strong communication and managerial skills
