We are seeking a High Vacuum Technician / Mechanical Engineer to build, test, and install high-vacuum systems used in Aerospace Applications, National Lab projects. You will play a key role in assembling gate valves, large thermal vacuum chambers, and other critical components for spacecraft testing with industry leaders such as NASA, SpaceX, Blue Origin, SDL and others. Our customers are building and designing equipment that is leading edge technology in vacuum physics. We are a manufacturer of custom vacuum chambers, valves and other for the testing of space gear and the manufacturing of things in less than atmospheric conditions.

GNB is looking for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate who is looking for ground floor opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- This is a hands-on mechanical assembly position hourly with overtime.
- Work will be on the shop floor, Managing projects, writing procedures. Making Testing Documents. Reviewing engineering travelers and drawings for project planning well in advance. Reviewing customers SOWs reviewing in advance.
- After Training You will be acting as a project manager in most situations to assemble and test large, complicated Vacuum Space Simulation equipment. Working with engineering on solving build problems, following, rework on the floor, getting the rework back to the project quickly to maintain schedules.
- Building out work centers in the Assembly Department with the correct tools using lean methods.
- Work to assemble and test Ultra High Vacuum components utilizing High Vacuum pumps, ION pressure sensors, Residual Gas Analyzers (RGA) to analyze the space vacuum level pressure the product is being tested in. Assemble, Build, Test, Analyze and report using Engineering methodologies.
- Enhance our UHV, RGA testing capability.
- Assemble and troubleshoot high-vacuum systems, including thermal vacuum chambers and gate valves.
- Conduct vacuum testing, leak detection, and system performance evaluations.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to build and modify vacuum equipment.
- Travel to customer sites for field installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance. For 1-2 weeks at a time.
- Work collaboratively with engineering teams to refine and improve vacuum system designs.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards and safety protocols.
- Take initiative in diagnosing and resolving technical challenges with minimal supervision.
- Write new and update assembly and manufacturing procedures.
- This is often a multitasking position for all assembly employees.
Qualifications:
- Trade school mechanical background, AS in engineering discipline mechanical. BS in mechanical engineering.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Willingness to travel for field installations and on-site customer support for up to a few weeks.
- Overtime and Saturdays Required when required to complete projects.
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- with experience in high-vacuum system assembly, maintenance, and field installation.
- Hands-on experience with vacuum pumps, cryogenic systems, leak detection, and pressure testing.
- Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and vacuum technology best practices is a plus.
- Lean Six Sigma and 5s Systems a plus.
- Procedures writing and ISO a plus.
Compensation:
- This is an Hourly position. Overtime will be part of the completion of the jobs.
- Approximate Pay Range: $31- 48 (based on experience).
