SUMMARY
The Construction Manager position within Ditesco is a Certified Construction Manager position with management authority. This position is responsible for construction management of water, wastewater, utility, telecommunications, broadband, and heavy civil projects. This position provides direct construction oversight, management and supervision of multiple projects at one time. The Construction Manager position manages the overall job scope, progress, budget, and quality of each project, with minimal oversight from the Senior Construction Manager. This position is directly responsible for planning, management direction, project completion, client satisfaction, and the financial outcome of assigned construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- On-site or off-site project management of active construction projects. Works at local and remote jobsites, as assigned.
- Designs, implements, manages, and supervises project controls (cost, schedule, quality).
- Develops and manages construction cost forecasts including cash flow analysis for various construction delivery models and strategies.
- Performs internal and external job cost analysis on project budgets.
- Performs project schedule analysis using Microsoft Project and other project management software to track critical path, monitor float, and project progress.
- Prepares for and manages weekly project progress meetings.
- Creates, reviews, edits and distributes meeting minutes and supporting project documentation.
- Develops and manages construction quality control and assurance programs.
- Performs and oversees construction inspection/observation efforts.
- Writes, develops, and distributes monthly dashboard reports.
- Manages the overall contract administration of various project types (GMP, Unit Price, Cost Plus, etc.) including development, review, and approval of pay applications, change orders, field orders and change directives.
- Manages overall project closeout and commissioning activities including punch list, completion certificates, warranties, start-up and testing, early project operations, and final payment procedures.
- Ensures accurate record drawings and as-built documentation are maintained throughout project delivery.
- Performs field layout verification, and construction-grade surveying and advises senior management on quality issues.
- Verifies material and equipment received is compliant with approval submittals and shop drawings prior to incorporation into the work.
- Reviews material test reports for compliance to specifications. Works with outside agencies and consultants to resolve nonconforming work. Writes nonconformance reports and verifies execution of remediation activities.
- Develops and prepares project invoicing, completing timely reviews, and accurate reporting of project costs.
- The successful candidate will work collaboratively with their coworkers and assigned supervisor to help achieve their respective project and construction management objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Special Licensing or Certification: Certified Construction Manager or Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of increasingly responsible experience in engineering and construction with an emphasis in the following areas:
- Construction Management and Project Management
- Contract Administration and Delivery Models
- Construction management experience related to private, municipal or federal agency projects
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Experience in engineering or construction with an emphasis in construction management, and/or project administration with appropriate educational background.
- Verifiable knowledge of engineering principles and construction practices related to heavy civil, commercial, and public buildings, water, wastewater, pipeline, telecommunications, and road/bridge construction.
- Ability to ensure compliance with, and follow, standard safety practices and procedures common to construction work.
- Thorough understanding of construction phasing and practices and ability to implement this knowledge in accurate scheduling and project controls.
- Ability to compile data and statistics and evaluate and write reports. Technical writing skills.
- Proven ability to prepare budgets, and proposals, and manage job cost controls.
- Ability to prepare construction cost estimates for design and construction projects to an AACE Class 1 level of accuracy.
- Ability to effectively communicate using both oral and written communication to internal, and external teams and clients.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, clients, and the public.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time.
- Ability to supervise assigned staff, mentor, and manage career growth.
- Knowledge of program management principles, financing, permitting, and overall project development.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations; ability to perform statistical analysis.
- Microsoft Project and other project scheduling software experience.
