Seattle Central is looking to hire a Dean for Basic and Transitional Studies (BTS), and the Seattle Colleges Institute of English SCIE).
Salary Range for this position is $101,478 to $140,104 annually (DOE)

Position Summary
The Dean is a service-oriented unit administrator who is skilled in relationship and partnership building, as the position supports instructional operations across multiple programs, as well as establishes and fosters educational excellence at Seattle Central College. The Dean will manage and lead:
Seattle Colleges Institute of English (SCIE) which supports international students.
This position is Full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday primarily 8am-5pm. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Ensuring Student Success
- Ensure an environment of educational support and accessibility for diverse students to pursue and achieve their learning goals
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement a vision and plan that advances programs supporting student completion and career or college transitions
- Develop strong relationships within internal and external communities and organizations to effectively advocate for student and program success
- Support the division's BTS Transition Center to strengthen advising for students in ESL/ABE/GED/HS+ and pre-college pathways
- Facilitate collaboration between the International Programs department and SCIE faculty to strengthen student success infrastructure, including placement testing, student advising, enrollment, and retention
- Collaborate with SCIE faculty to enhance district-wide understanding of international students needs and contributions, fostering a mutually enriching relationship between the college and its international student community
- Support faculty in the practice of anti-racist & critical pedagogy and culturally sustaining pedagogy
- Engage with students to address needs, complaints, and academic and behavioral concerns
- Support the mission, vision, and values of Seattle Central College through courageous and responsible leadership of Basic and Transitional Studies (BTS) and the Seattle Colleges Institute of English (SCIE)
- Advocate for the division and support the overall success of the college by serving on internal and external administrative teams to address student needs and advance institutional goals
- Build and cultivate systems, structures, and communication channels to support the relationship between SCIE and International Programs
- Advocate for the unique strengths, needs, and contributions of the BTS division and SCIE while aligning their work with the college's mission and priorities in communications with college administration
- Facilitate collaboration, transparent communication, community building, and inclusive decision-making processes that impact students, faculty, and staff of BTS and SCIE
- Initiate, lead, and support professional development of the division's employees
- Provide professional development opportunities for BTS and SCIE staff
- Cultivate a culture of recognition and appreciation by celebrating team achievements, fostering teamwork, and acknowledging the contributions of staff, part-time faculty, and full-time faculty
- Communicate in a timely manner about processes, decisions, and changes that affect the division and programs, its staff, part-time faculty, full-time faculty, and students
- Develop, document, implement, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures to promote consistency, accountability, and alignment with institutional goals
- Demonstrate a commitment to and fully engage in shared governance, consultative processes, and consensus building with staff, part-time faculty, full-time faculty, and students
- Drive responsive initiatives to build program capacity and ensure sustainable enrollment across all instructional programs
- Provide strategic leadership and effective management of resources, ensuring fiscally responsible budget development and oversight reflecting the program and colleges values and mission
- Apply for, manage, and renew state and federal grant funding, ensuring compliance with all requirements to maintain eligibility
- Work alongside with faculty to plan teaching schedules in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Recruit, hire, evaluate, and provide constructive supervision to part-time faculty, full-time faculty, classified staff, and professional staff
- Support full-time faculty in meeting their instructional and non-instructional duties in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Cultivate an effective and collegial working and learning environment
- Perform other duties as required.
- A master's degree relevant to the position
- Minimum of one year of coordination, supervision, or administrative experience in higher education
- Minimum of two years of experience teaching adults
- Experience working with international students and their unique language
- Ability to actively lead efforts to integrate equity and inclusion within the program and at an institutional level
- Understanding of the goals, objectives, and issues related to a diverse student population that includes international, immigrant, refugee, and systemically non-dominant students
- Administrative experience, including instructional team member supervision and professional development; budget development and management; and grant acquisition, management and compliance
- Ability to build and maintain internal and external partnerships
