Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Operations West and System Integration, this position will provide leadership to Pharmacy Managers supporting our British Columbia pharmacy operations. This role will lead the Pharmacy operations teams, as well as collaborate with the Corporate services teams including Operational Services, Finance, HR, Legal, and Central Support. This position ensures the pharmacies in their region operate according to company policy, professional standards and provincial and federal laws which govern the profession of pharmacy practice while meeting regional performance metrics and change initiatives. The Director, Regional Pharmacy Operations provides overall leadership and direction to the teams to achieve people, organization, client, and financial results.

Your Day To Day

Customer Support

  • Ensures that pharmacies are meeting customer SLAs, to work with Pharmacy Managers on operational improvement activities and change management activities to manage a changing environment.
  • Lead / co-manage projects on operational changes across pharmacies ensuring proactive communication with customers.
  • Support pharmacy managers and work directly with Clinical and Client Engagement team members to meet with customers satisfaction.
  • Manage escalation situation with customers, providing succinct and timely action plans, then working with managers on requirements to ensure progress.
  • Participate in the pharmacy-related home partner transition processes, as required.


Store Performance

  • Responsible for driving financial planning activities across the pharmacies in your region, including monitoring profit and loss statements, and implementing measures to attain target metrics, including but not limited to labour, inventory and expense control
  • Actively works with Pharmacy Managers to ensure accountability and achievement of targets and commitments
  • Monitors and holds each site accountable for meeting all legislative, regulatory and professional practice requirements (e.g. compliance with British Columbia College of Pharmacists requirements, residential care policies and audits)
  • Actively drive site accountability for their teams' compliance with company policy, practice and standard operating procedures
  • Responsible for optimal deployment of human resources and investments to continuously improve all operational functions. This includes coaching the Pharmacy Managers within their pharmacies as well as providing support with resources across multiple pharmacies in the region.
  • Implement lean methodology and other six sigma tools in support of Pharmacy Operations Support, regularly reviews business operations processes to ensure continuous improvement. Recommends and makes corrections as required.
  • Ensure the site leaders are managing inventory with staffing structure, routine activities and necessary reporting to minimize shrinkage and compliance requirements.
  • Utilize and implement where necessary, KPIs to drive a performance driven culture and continue to improve pharmacy efficiency.
  • Support and collaborate with business development and client engagement regarding prospective and existing clients
  • Support HR and pharmacy managers to maintain workplace health and safety compliance, and facilitating an active health and safety committee in all sites
  • Bring innovative ways to improve operational quality, safety and operational effectiveness.


Leadership Development and Regional Performance

  • Responsible for overall regional budgets, resources (i.e. inventory) and labour (i.e. staffing levels, scheduling) to achieve and exceed Company objectives.
  • Ensures a positive culture aligned with the CareRx Mission, Vision, Mission and Values and measured by our employee engagement scores.
  • In collaboration with the Pharmacy Managers, facilitate cross-training amongst work teams, and optimization/allocation of shared resources (e.g. delivery services).
  • Responsible for addressing employee performance, including preparation and delivery of probationary and annual performance evaluations and execution of employee development plans for direct reports, as well as supporting Pharmacy Managers in addressing performance and identifying development opportunities within their teams.
  • Support Pharmacy Managers in addressing internal human resources concerns, identifying solutions and action plans.
  • Act as a registered Pharmacy Manager with the BC College of Pharmacy as required.
  • Act as a Director on the BC Corporation as required.
  • Develop Pharmacy Managers through leadership engagement and development activities including routinely feedback, on site activities and corporate activities.
  • Actively participate in the annual compensation review process(es), as well as ad hoc market adjustment activities.
  • Maintain an informed team through regular team meetings, and facilitate active and collaborative communication between all work teams .


What You Bring To The Team

  • A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a pharmacy operations leadership position within a high volume production or dispensing environment.
  • Lean and/or six sigma certification preferred.
  • Strong operational and project management experience at a leadership level coupled with strong business and financial acumen.
  • Effective at delegating and setting the pace and direction for your team and cross functional teams.
  • Proven record of building high performing teams while developing and implementing standards of practice.


Qualities for Success:

  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills and be able to interact with persons of varying levels of professional expertise in a professional and mature manner.
  • Must be skilled in critical thought processes and be able to prioritize appropriately.
  • Registration and in good standing with the provincial College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacist (i.e. RPh) is required. Deep knowledge and experience with the relevant HPA Bylaws essential.
  • Experience with long term care, hospice, OAT and assisted living practice is essential.


Salary Range: 150,000 - 170,000, this position is eligible for performance bonus

This position is located out of our Victoria location and will support all of BC
