Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health)
Job Specialty: Staff Augmentation
Job Duration: 26 weeks
Shift: Day 1:45 PM - 9:45 PM
Guaranteed Hours: To be discussed
Experience: Minimum years of experience required
License: Active Registered Nurse license
Certifications: Relevant certifications as required
Must-Have: Experience in a correctional medical environment is preferred
Job Description:
- Responsible for all health care of bedridden inmates, including making rounds, evaluating care needed and rendered, and developing care plans.
- Administers medication, including narcotics, and provides direct nursing care as needed.
- Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusion, intubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy duties.
- Organizes and oversees the 'code blue' team and directs healthcare staff assigned to the area.
- Acts as the lead worker in charge of the assigned shift in the absence of a more senior nurse.
- Assists physicians in giving diagnostic health evaluations.
- Performs clerical tasks, including charting and recording all medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information.
- Completes required reports such as incident and accident reports, documents relevant information, orders supplies and equipment, and maintains a constant and exact inventory of all controlled drugs and equipment.
- Arranges for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations.
- Performs administrative tasks and serves as a liaison with others in the organization. Conducts and/or attends meetings and serves as an instructor on occasion.
- Serves as a member or leader of problem-solving teams.
Note: The work schedule includes working every third weekend, with time off during the week.
