The Dean of College Life & Readiness is a full-time, 12-month academic administrator position reporting to the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President overseeing Instruction and Student Services. The Dean assures optimal operation of the department through the management of day-to-day and long-term operations. The Dean manages, leads and develops several departments under the umbrella of College Life & Readiness such as, yet not limited to, the Student Life department, which is responsible for providing a rich and varied student activities and development program appropriate to the diverse student body of Pasadena City College and facilitates and supports the student government association, student rights and responsibilities (student conduct and development), district-wide commencement, Family Resource Center (focus on parenting students), and the Basic Needs Center (food pantry, emergency vouchers and grants for various issues to support students).
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Plans, organizes, and manages the daily operations of the College Life & Readiness division, including, but not limited to: Students Rights & Responsibilities, Office of Student Life, District Commencement, Family Resource Center (FRC), Basic Needs and co-chairs the Crisis Prevention and Response Team (CPART/CARE Team). Supervises, and supports staff and faculty within and that supports College Life & Readiness. Develops, facilitates, supports, and monitors the development of, assessment of, and improvement of the various student services departments within College Life & Readiness student learning outcomes. Submits regular reports of division assessment and outcomes to the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services and other entities within the district to further develop their departments. Conducts and shares out to numerous stakeholders - of the annual departments' program reviews and strategic planning on a regular basis that frequently informs and guides the further development of division goals and outcomes. Serves as the key leader in the students' rights and responsibility (student conduct and development) processes and procedures related to, student conduct, compliant and grievance to maximize student learning and development. Develops, authorizes, and monitors budgets and expenditures within College Life & Readiness division such as and student leadership travel, student loans and grants, and operations within the various departments within the division. Serves as administrator and chairperson or member of multiple boards and committees, including and not limited to the student government election committee, various commencement committees, various student services committees, various scholarship committees, and any other committee as determined by the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services. Serves as needed as an administrator in charge over the Office of Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services as designated. Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Possession of a master's degree in a related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible leadership experience in student affairs or a closely related student services area which demonstrates the ability to plan, supports, organize, facilitates, and directs a comprehensive student services division in a multiethnic district environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a doctorate degree in a related student development discipline.
- Experience working and/or supporting any area within the College Life & Readiness division.
- Experience working with the following areas: student government and student leadership organizations; student rights and responsibility (conduct and development) various processes and procedures; and students and programs that support high risks and complex needs, such as unhoused students and students at risk to drop out of their programs of study.
- Experience working and/or supporting any area within the College Life & Readiness division.
- Administrative experience at the community college level or equivalent.
