General Summary and Purpose:
The Research Associate position in the BioLife R&D Department is a critical member of the team.
This is a unique opportunity for a self-motivated candidate with proper education and cell
culture skills who is enthusiastic about contributing to the field of cell and gene therapies to
support the buildout and operation of a research and development lab and its associated
processes. This position will execute experiments and support the delivery of project goals as
defined by the department lead. As a lab position, this is an on-site position in our Bothell, WA
headquarters.

Duties and Responsibilities: Install and IQ/OQ/PQ standard cell culture equipment
  • Order and maintain lab supplies, consumables, and reagents
  • Perform and assist in equipment and lab maintenance procedures
  • Contribute to reagent and sample organization and inventory management systems
  • Draft equipment SOPs
  • Contribute to experiment design, draft experiment entries, and submit for
    review/approval
  • Perform cell culture work with adherent and suspension cells per approved
    SOP/experiment design
  • Maintain and monitor cell culture, perform relevant analytics on cell culture to ensure
    experiments are on track
  • Timely and accurately records results and lab activities according to Good
    Documentation Practices and communicate daily activities with the manager in a timely
    manner in person or using communication channels such as Teams
  • Collect relevant experiment data and perform initial data analysis and prepare reports
  • Regular communication and updates with manager and team are essential on progress
    of lab work and projects.

Reporting Relationships:
This position reports to Head of Department.

Job Requirements:
  • Effective communication skill both written and verbal is required. This include proper
    drafting of SOPs, reports, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and think critically, with careful attention to detail
  • Demonstrated expertise in aseptic technique for cell culture is required.
  • Prior experience in culturing adherent and/or suspension mammalian/human cells or
    cell lines is required. Experience with primary human cells is a strong plus.
  • Prior familiarity with formulation and cryopreservation of mammalian/human cells is
    required. Knowledge of cryopreservation science is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques to assess cell culture, such as cell and viability
    assays, is required. Familiarity with other analytical tools, including flow cytometry,
    fluorescent microscopy and spectroscopy is a strong plus.
  • Experience in cellular assay development and fluorescent microscopy is a plus.


Job Specifications:
  • BS degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of related experience in cell culture laboratory, or a MS degree in
    a related field with +1 year of relevant lab experience is required.

The US base salary range for this position at full-time is $73,542 - $110,313 per year. Our salary ranges are determined by position, level, location, and market competitive benchmarks. Individual pay within a level is determined by work location (including geographic pay zone region), job related skills, experience, education, and training.

This range represents the full compensation range for this position, with consideration given to experience, skills, and qualifications. Typically, new hires are brought in at or near the midpoint of the range to allow for future growth and advancement within the role.
