We are seeking a Specialist, Indigenous Engagement and Wellbeing to play a pivotal role in driving these efforts and fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.
This role will provide operational support by tracking progress, evaluating community experiences, and developing strategies to improve program and service delivery. You will also lead the development of resources, tools, and awareness-building opportunities that support cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead Indigenous-focused initiatives - Plan cultural awareness events, programming, and observances to promote engagement.
- Advance decolonization efforts - Assess and refine programs and services to enhance cultural responsiveness, address systemic barriers, and promote equity and inclusion.
- Strengthen community partnerships - Foster meaningful collaboration with Indigenous Knowledge Holders, communities, grassroots collectives, and organizations.
- Enhance Land Acknowledgement practices - Strengthen the impact of land acknowledgments by developing resources that promote meaningful, action-oriented delivery.
- Develop training and resources - Create tools and learning opportunities to build staff capacity in culturally responsive program and service delivery.
- Monitor and evaluate impact - Track Indigenous engagement and wellbeing initiatives, assess program effectiveness, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Support advocacy efforts - Contribute to initiatives that address health disparities, social inequities, and broader issues affecting Indigenous Peoples.
- Prepare reports and analyses - Develop reports, statistical analyses, and recommendations to support decision-making.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Indigenous engagement, equity & inclusion, or human rights, preferably in a public sector or community-focused setting.
- Strong knowledge of decolonization principles, Indigenous worldviews, and cultural protocols.
- Experience in community engagement and relationship-building with Indigenous Knowledge Holders, organizations and communities.
- Understanding of key policies and frameworks, including the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, UNDRIP, and MMIWG2S.
- Proficiency in research and analysis to support reports, program evaluations, and policy recommendations.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills to engage diverse audiences and promote awareness-building.
- Knowledge of project management and change management tools and methodologies.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge or fluency in an Indigenous language.
- Public sector experience, particularly in program or policy development.
