Job Description
The Unit Head applies both technical and management skills to ensure that assigned work units are providing services at a professional level.
The Unit Head hires, mentors and directs the supervisors and other direct reports within the Facilities Operations unit.
Provides overall guidance and direction for the activities of the work unit to ensure consistency and collaboration
The Unit Head will promote teamwork, high ethical standards, quality, safety and customer service.
The Unit Head is responsible to manage talent, knowledge, finances and performance of the unit.
The Unit Head is responsible to implement and ensure division operations are conducted to provide regulatory compliance, meeting Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, Minnesota Department of Health and local Building and Fire Authorities requirements.
The Unit Head is responsible to ensure safe and consistent infrastructure operation maintained by the assigned work units.
The Unit Head is responsible to achieve energy saving building operation by setting expectations for efficient building infrastructure system operation.
The Unit Head will develop metrics for work unit activities to validate work unit performance and fiscal responsibility of assigned work units.
The Unit Head will be the proponent for Capital infrastructure projects and maintenance related miscellaneous construction expense.
The Unit Head will promote consistency across the campus through the coordination of standards and processes with other Unit Heads in Facilities Operations and the collaboration with other Division and Department resources.
The Unit Head must possess effective verbal and written communications skills.
The Unit Head - Facility Operations Network Infrastructure Systems Support will manage a diverse team of System Administrators and Specialists that provide technical support and expertise throughout facilities, including Building Automaton, Fire, Lighting, Conveyance, Utility Metering, and Access Controls thought the Mayo Clinic enterprise. Duties include develop, monitor, and direct the team within the Facilities Operations units and providing overall guidance and direction for the activities of the group. Inspiring teamwork, high ethical standards, process improvement, quality, safety, and customer service amongst the team is a main initiative.
Responsible for the unit operations and ensuring work is conducted within regulatory compliance and meeting joint commission standards. Developing metrics for work unit activities to validate work performance and responsible for fiscal activities. Promoting consistency across numerous campuses through the coordination of standards and processes with other Unit Heads within Facilities Operations, along with other Division and Department stakeholders.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree, seven years of relevant experience and two years supervisory experience, which includes maintaining building infrastructure systems, project involvement, customer service and personnel management. The specific experience requirements, code knowledge and building system familiarity are dependent upon the assigned responsibilities of the work unit. Additional degrees, certificates, course work and/or experience in relevant fields are desired. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred. The ability to work collaboratively with other work units is highly desirable. Strong leadership, communication, organization and personnel interaction skills are desired. Must be efficient with all Microsoft Office products. CHFM ( Certified Health Care Facility Manager-ASHE ) or achieve within 3 years
or
CEM ( Certified Energy Manager-AEE ) or achieve within 3 years
or FMA ( Facilities Management Administrator-BOMI ) designation / equivalent or achieve within 2 years
