The overall purpose of this position is to oversee an engaged workforce producing an inclusive, positive and productive environment aligned with JD Finish Line's culture. Responsible for servicing retail and direct to consumer customers through multiple facilities including inbound, outbound, direct to consumer fulfillment, operations support and planning. Spends a significant amount of time monitoring and maintaining budgeted expenses focusing on productivity and process improvements and developing a best in class leadership team. Vision on future growth and ensuring facilities are equipped with necessary material handling equipment and software. The following main duties will executed to achieve operational excellence:
  • Strategically leads operations management across multiple shifts in the inbound, outbound, direct to consumer, customer returns, return to vendor, and defective departments.
  • Engages regularly with operations manager direct reports, supervisors, and 400+ hourly associates to create an inclusive, safe, positive and productive environment.
  • Responsible for achieving key metrics, such as safety targets, units per hour, cost per unit, speed of delivery, and accuracy across the building.
  • Responsible for safety and cleanliness throughout facility and assuring leadership team is a partner with Loss Prevention and the Safety Committee.
  • Maintains department budget and CapX expenses. Partners with Finance, Merchants, and Supply Chain teams to assure alignment with business needs and future forecast.
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen tools focusing on quality, productivity and safety.
  • Partners closely with supply chain systems, facilities and maintenance teams to ensure maximum operational capabilities and efficiency.
  • Actively supports inventory initiatives and drives strategy to maintain inventory integrity and control shrink.
  • Maintains open communication with corporate departments to maximize efficiencies in product flow, packaging, and to maintain accurate inventory levels for basics programs.
  • Monitors key metric dashboards to maximize opportunities for supply chain and business partners.
  • Provides updates to merchants and vendors to identify compliance violations.
  • Utilizes Warehouse Management and Labor Management software to set labor standards and measure performance.
  • Assists with forecasting and planning appropriate staffing levels to attain business goals during the various seasons.
  • Responsible for continuously developing leaders and creating succession plans for team leads, supervisors, and operations managers.
  • Monitors employee engagement, turnover and employee relations cases in partnership with HR to develop strategies to continuously improve the culture.
  • Set goals to reduce turnover and increase engagement scores
  • Assists with development and administration of policies and procedures for the distribution center.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Keeps current on trends and issues in the industry, including current technology, trends, best practices and processes, including but not limited to: attending seminar and business workshops, site tours, active memberships to supply chain organizations and media resources.
  • Additional duties and projects as required.


Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; 10 or more years related experience leading distribution operations, including inbound, outbound, and direct to consumer required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience leading multiple shifts strongly preferred. Experience with supply chain planning and transportation functions preferred.

Required Computer and/or Technical Skills

Should have intermediate to advanced knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, and/or Google Suite, as well as a working understanding of functions and relationships of information in warehouse management system. Experience with the Manhattan WMS and LMS strongly preferred.
