GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The First Nations & Mtis Relations Consultant works with Indigenous partners to co-create a First Nations & Mtis Cancer Strategy in Saskatchewan. As part of the Human Resources team, the First Nations & Mtis Relations consultant guides SCA leadership and staff to work in a culturally responsive way with Indigenous patients, communities and organizations in all aspects of cancer care and prevention.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's degree in First Nations studies, health or social science or a relevant field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in developing and implementing health or social policy/programs that includes work with First Nations and Mtis people and communities.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Travel is required.
- Some evening/weekend work may be required.
SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:
- Strong understanding of current issues affecting First Nations and Mtis communities, especially related to health and wellness.
- Knowledge of First Nations and Mtis history in Saskatchewan, along with knowledge of Truth and Reconciliation, including the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.
- Demonstrated experience developing and building collaborative relationships and partnerships with First Nations and Mtis communities.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently toward goals in a diverse environment with multiple and changing demands.
- Ability to work with a high degree of discretion and sensitivity.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Ability to navigate in ambiguous environments.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to patient/client service excellence.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong facilitation skills.
- Proficient in the use of computers.
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan health care and human services systems is an asset.
