Role Overview

The Plant Manager, located out of Chilliwack (Yarrow), BC, oversees the activities of the Interior Doors manufacturing operations of Owens Corning, through a team of dedicated supervisors and group leaders. This leader ensures that we produce quality door products that are delivered to the customer complete and on time. This leader verifies all reports according to the annual objectives, and consistently improves the efficiency of labor, materials, and machines through the deployment of Lean Six Sigma.

Responsibilities
  • Drives all company safety policies, practices and procedures to ensure 100% compliance.
  • Monitors operations for efficiency and safety ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are met/followed
  • Monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards
  • Deploys Lean Manufacturing techniques in the area of quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time deliveries, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures
  • Responsible for operational labor metrics, improvement in the Team Improvement Process and OEE metrics
  • Drives improvements in plant operations, manufacturing processes and standardized work procedures leading to productivity and efficiency gains through application of Lean Tools
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development and problem resolution.
  • Oversees production supervision staff for all shifts
  • Develops production schedules to meet internal goals and customer expectations
  • Establishes and directs plant policies and procedures
  • Facilitates Lean Six Sigma process improvement opportunities throughout the plant and be the plant ambassador for quality and process excellence
  • Full P&L responsibility; works closely with finance and sales & marketing to partner towards sales objectives

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong ability to lead a team while upholding Owen Corning's values (Caring, Curious, Committed, Collaborative)
  • Self-driven, accountable, high integrity, open communicator, strong work ethic
  • Intermediate computer skills in programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook.
  • General accounting knowledge
  • Strong time management skills
  • Must be able to handle various issues simultaneously and prioritize
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Operations Management is preferred
  • Minimum of of 8 years of operations management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean Management experience in a global organization is an asset


The minimum annual base salary for this position is $140,000 CDN +bonus+benefits. Base wage will be depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
