Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the VP/Controller, the Senior Director of Financial Planning, Analysis, and Treasury is responsible for leading the financial reporting and analysis functions, which includes annual budget and related forecasting activity. Treasury functions include daily cash positions, cash forecasts, liquidity management, and executing liquidity investment activity per the established investment policy statement. The Senior Director is also responsible for supporting the Investment Committee with investment performance analysis, endowment, fund analysis, and Committee meeting material. Essential Functions/Duties/Tasks:
Strategic Analysis & Leadership
- Provide financial insights to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Evaluate the financial impact of new initiatives, partnerships, and funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with development teams to assess the financial feasibility of fundraising campaigns and donor-restricted funds.
- Lead and mentor a team responsible for financial planning and reporting.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with staff at all levels in the organization.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working collaboratively with department heads and program leaders.
- Develop multi-year financial models to support long-term strategic planning.
- Ensure alignment of financial plans with organizational goals and funding requirements.
- Monitor and maintain budgetary controls, providing guidance on budget adjustments as needed.
Forecasting & Variance Analysis
- Prepare rolling forecasts and financial projections based on programmatic and operational needs.
- Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results to budgeted expectations, identifying trends and risks.
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
Financial Systems Management & Reporting
- Oversee financial systems and reporting tools, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Develop dashboards and reports to enhance visibility into key financial metrics.
- Support grant management by providing financial reporting, compliance tracking, and fund liquidity reporting.
- Work with IT and finance teams to improve financial data management and automation
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Expertise in financial systems management and data analytics.
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting standards and grant management.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (Master's or CPA preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis, preferably in a non-profit environment, with 5 years as a supervisor
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Sage Intacct, Adaptive Insights, NetSuite
- Advanced Excel skills.
