The Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking a full-time Family Medicine physician to join their department as a core faculty member at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. This position will provide clinical patient care, which includes Outpatient Services at Ghent Family Medicine and Portsmouth Family Medicine, and Inpatient Services at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. A core component of this position will include teaching medical students, residents and Sports Medicine Fellows.
Responsibilities
Patient Care
Includes seeing patients, responding to patient requests (medication refills, questions
about their health, concerns about treatment plans, and/or new health related issues),
completing medical paperwork, responding to tasks from nurses related to patient
care.
Teaching medical students, residents and Sports Medicine Fellows
Includes precepting medical students, residents and Sports Medicine Fellows:
mentoring and supervising medical students, residents and fellows, guiding them
through clinical rotations and providing hands-on training and feedback to help them
develop their clinical skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
Shall have completed an accredited residency program in Family Medicine.
Shall be certified and recertified by American Board of Family Medicine
M.D. or D.O. and board eligible/certified in Family Medicine
unrestricted DEA license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
