Title
System Director Education Services

The System Director Clinical Education Services has operational accountability for clinical education teams including but not limited to Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Patient Care Assistance, Unit Clerk, Patient Safety Assistants, Practice Support Assistants, and Medical Assistants. This role is responsible for system wide planning, coordinating, and ensuring consistency in educational needs and requirements for all disciplines under their accountability. Works collaboratively with all clinical services to coordinate education services, meeting requirements for accreditation, ensures standardized policy and procedures, and works to ensure consistency of learning experiences and outcomes. Serves as a consultant to the system to ensure consistency and standardization in healthcare theory, research, orientation, and onboarding as well as career development. Maintains expertise in education, adult learning, clinical models of learning, and resources to support and enhance the professional experience for the areas of accountability.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree required, at least one of them in nursing.
  • Five to seven years progressively more responsible experience in the healthcare field preferably in adult education.
  • Current licensure for registered nurse in the State of Michigan.

Interpersonal Requirements:
  • Interacts with all levels of healthcare environment including top management, physicians, OD&L team, nursing and other clinical leadership, universities and colleges including junior colleges, high school aged students, outside consultants and others in situations where major education and orientation programs, policy matters and affairs are discussed and decisions made. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with all levels of employees, both clinical and non-clinical. Considerable tact and communication skills are required to be able to gain consensus in complex situations. Skill set that represents Bronson in a professional manner and role models our standards of behavior.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leads, participates in nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision-making around accountable areas including but not limited to education and orientation
  • Leads meetings and projects as assigned
  • Builds strong collegial and collaborative relationships across clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Participates in and supports clinical research activities
  • Participates in and supports presentations by self and team members at national, local and internal conferences and education
  • Participates in and involves team members in professional article submissions
  • Fosters a climate that is conducive to educational experiences for students and staff
  • Responsible for making timely decisions and taking necessary action related to the readiness for, and compliance with, the requirements of internal and external bodies, involving compliance, accreditation, auditing, and other regulations required of Bronson Healthcare Group.
  • Identifies, analyzes and documents implementation and completion of strategic goals.
  • Assists and coordinates development of metrics and targets for the system areas of accountabilities in conjunction with the facility leadership.
  • Policy/Procedure. Formulates and/or coordinates the development of policies and protocols for the system and secures approval of policies/protocols in a timely manner.
  • Develops and administers procedures necessary to implement approved policies/protocols and provides the overall direction necessary to ensure efficient and effective services.
  • Completes evaluations for direct reports meeting required deadlines.
  • Evaluates, leads, and mentors direct reports and team members to improve engagement and performance.
  • Actively participates with Epic IT groups and leaders to develop and maintain best practice and appropriate documentation for patient care.
  • Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of orientation and education models
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of quality improvement in areas he/she is responsible
  • Evaluates, develops, disciplines, and discharges subordinates as appropriate
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships across Bronson leadership teams to facilitate best experiences for students and staff.
  • Develops short- and long-term goals for his/her area of responsibility
  • Develops and meets deadlines for budget development, variance tracking and reporting for all areas of accountability.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clean, well lighted & temperature controlled environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to walk and sit. Occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds. Required to have fine motor skills to operate computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
