Role Overview

The Director of Business Development will play a critical role in identifying, engaging, and securing strategic partnerships that drive revenue and long-term value. This individual will be responsible for sourcing new partners across targeted verticals (Realtor/Brokerage, Lender/Title, Home Builder), executing outreach and engagement strategies, and working cross-functionally to ensure a smooth handoff to Account Management and Partner Success teams.

This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, high-level sales acumen, and operational discipline to convert leads into high-value partnerships that align with UpEquity's business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and engage prospective partners through outbound prospecting, networking events, referral programs, and digital channels
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects across targeted verticals:
  • Realtors, Lenders, Home Builders, and Strategic Partners
  • Present UpEquity's value proposition to stakeholders and decision-makers through compelling custom pitches and product demos
  • Own the end-to-end sales cycle for new partnerships, from initial contact to signed agreement
  • Collaborate with Strategic Partner Managers (SPMs) to ensure seamless partner handoff, proper onboarding, and performance forecasting
  • Partner with marketing to create co-branded collateral, pitch decks, and campaign materials tailored to prospective partners
  • Track all partner interactions and progress in HubSpot and support creation of Looker dashboards for executive visibility
  • Participate in ongoing coaching and development, including role plays, strategy reviews, and workshops
  • Work cross-functionally with Revenue Ops, Marketing, and Product to influence growth strategy and market fit

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or sales (real estate, mortgage, or proptech industry preferred)
  • Proven track record of acquiring and growing strategic partnerships with measurable revenue impact
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; confident engaging with executive-level stakeholders
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficient in CRM systems (HubSpot preferred), sales tools, and data analysis platforms (Looker or similar)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving environment
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading complex deal cycles

Preferred Traits
  • Experience with mortgage lending, real estate brokerages, or home builder ecosystems
  • Understanding of partnership tiers and how to align revenue performance with partner classification
  • Ability to combine sales execution with a service-oriented mindset, working in tandem with the SPM team
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and building processes from the ground up
