The Plant Manager will report to the Vice President of MFG. They will be a key leader of the Manufacturing Operations Team. They will have close working relationships with the Plant Manufacturing Operations Leadership and with Plant Manufacturing Managers, Supervisors, and support (HR, Quality, Finance, etc.) staff.

The Plant Manager will report to the Vice President of MFG. They will be a key leader of the Manufacturing Operations Team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Plant Manager is to build the required operational and human capital capability.
- They will develop an environment of success where people willingly bring their best every day.
- They will drive consistent process deployment at their manufacturing plant.
- They will also learn deeply from other operations, internal and external to the company.
- Responsible for building an organization capable of significant and sustained improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost by developing an excellent organization, and methodically and aggressively implementing a lean operating methodology based on well-developed production system techniques and tools (e.g. Toyota, Danaher, GE, P&G etc.)
More specifically, the Plant Manager will:
- Passionately drive a lean operating system mentality and culture in a highly structured and prescriptive way leading the development and implementation of the roadmap to achieve breakthrough operating performance (5S, SMED, TPS, etc.)
- Continually evolve manufacturing efficiency and assess opportunities to reduce cost, taking aggressive action to drive financial performance in the areas of direct and indirect labor, and manufacturing overhead cost, as well as inventory levels
- Drive significant, and sustainable improvement in SQDC
- Develop KPIs and lead regular KPI reviews for the plant team to ensure attainment of results and a sense of urgency with respect to implementation priorities
- Improve product quality, lead time, turnover, safety, OTIF and performance
- Interact thoughtfully with key stakeholders, including the CEO
- Create a high commitment work environment that attracts and retains the best manufacturing talent.
- Build, coach and develop an outstanding team of production leaders
- Ensure effective allocation of resources across all areas of the plant to accomplish customer-driven priorities
- Coordinate effectively with sales, marketing, design engineering, and other functional organizations
- Partner with the broader management team to ensure the best possible product, and customer satisfaction
- Continually benchmark best practices and drive effective implementation
FIRST YEAR DELIVERABLES:
- The successful candidate would have accomplished the following in their first year:
- Assessed the current state of the operations and organization
- Developed a comprehensive strategic roadmap for the plant that
determines the right priorities and sequence to build and drive a common operating model always with continuous, sustainable improvement top of mind
- Refine critical KPIs and review mechanisms; improvement in operating efficiencies noted
- Led a significant coaching/mentoring program designed to upgrade talent especially at the front-line supervisor level
- Driven technician turnover rates substantially down with accelerating improvement
- Develop enhanced and effective communication strategies that brings the 'voice of the customer" down to the front line. Understanding of the business and ownership behavior on the part of the technicians would show improvement
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills including the ability to coach and mentor high performers and quickly move on lower performers in a constructive manner
- Improved organization health surveys results. Glassdoor and Google reviews would have shown material improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required with graduate degree desirable
- Previous work experience with a well-regarded company renowned for its manufacturing excellence
- Demonstrated success at driving continuous improvement in operations
- Excellent leadership skills -- possesses well developed skills at setting a compelling vision, developing a performance oriented, aspirational work environment, and coaching/developing the organization
- Is engaged and engaging in their approach
- High standard for self and others
- Equally comfortable on the "shop floor" as they are in the "boardroom"
- In addition, the fully qualified candidates will possess the following attributes:
- A minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible manufacturing leadership experience in a fast-paced, complex manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate capability and experience in cultural and results-based transformation (s)
- Impeccable integrity, flexibility, sound judgement and strong critical thinking skills
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and develop a good feel for the business
- A strong communicator who can balance the strategic as well as the tactical side of the business
- Have a demonstrated track record of achieving successful transformation and acting as a change agent
