If you thrive in dynamic environments, are energized by solving complex problems, and bring deep in-house legal expertise-especially in transportation, logistics, or diversified governance environments-this is a high-impact opportunity to lead during a time of transformation, enabling the organization for growth.

Who We Are:

UniGroup is a cooperative committed to delivering industry-leading transportation solutions through a network of premier brands-including United Van Lines, Mayflower Transit, UniGroup Logistics, and UniGroup Worldwide. We unite the strength and capabilities of our collective network to move people, products, and possessions with care, knowledge, and expertise.

What You'll Do:

As General Counsel, you will:

  • Lead UniGroup's legal, safety compliance, and risk management teams, driving alignment and performance across functions.
  • Advise on a wide range of legal issues-including corporate governance, enterprise risk, regulatory matters, M&A, and commercial contracts.
  • Develop and oversee legal strategies that enable growth while mitigating risk and ensuring compliance.
  • Navigate complex governance structures and cooperative dynamics, ensuring effective member relations and regulatory alignment.
  • Manage relationships with outside counsel and oversee legal spend, budgeting, and performance metrics.
  • Champion a strong enterprise safety and compliance culture.
  • Support long-term succession planning and employee development within the legal, compliance, and safety teams.

What You Bring:

Required Experience

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school; licensed and in good standing with the Missouri Bar.
  • 10+ years of broad legal experience, with 8+ years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated in-house legal experience (highly preferred), ideally in transportation, logistics, private equity portfolio companies, or member/cooperative models.
  • Proven ability to manage legal functions, budgets, and external counsel relationships.
  • Trusted advisor to senior leadership and board members.
  • Experience leading or supporting enterprise risk, safety, and compliance strategies.
