BI Senior Business Analyst

Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Serve as the primary interface for BI-related needs, including gathering requirements, determining data sources, and designing solutions.
• Provide support for business units through initial Power BI onboarding and training.
• Facilitate the development of new or modified reporting requirements with business partners.
• Collaborate with application SMEs within IT to understand data models necessary for report development.
• Work with the technical teams to support new or enhanced data tables for report generation and help validating the data.
• Perform, evaluate, and communicate thorough quality assurance at every stage of report development.
• Develop user test cases that map to functional requirements and lead user acceptance testing.
• Ensure the delivered product meets the success criteria stated in the project charter. Address any gaps with the business to determine resolution paths.
• Enable business partners to build their own reports/dashboards and assist with technical needs.
• Help shape BI standards for the team and ensure adherence.
• Persuade internal and external stakeholders of the benefits of new technologies, strategies, and standards.

Capabilities:

• Strong technical and analytical skills related to Power BI in Azure (workspaces, data refresh, etc.), data modeling, data warehousing, SQL, and ETL processing.
• Ability to build Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Proficiency in understanding and working with complex data structures.
• Ability to build and consume tables and views in SQL.
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and consultative skills. Ability to facilitate requirements gathering, process documentation, and translate data into actionable insights.
• Ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously.
• Great attention to detail and ability to learn on the job.
• Ability to work individually and with extended internal/external teams both onshore and offshore.
• Understanding of basic technologies and typical constraints.
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills.
• 5+ years of experience in analytics and systems development.
• 5+ years of experience building and creating data models, dashboards, and reports with BI tools such as Power BI. Experience with QlikView is a plus.
• High proficiency with MS productivity tools and SQL.
• Familiarity with ITIL, project management, and development methodologies. Experience with ServiceNOW is a plus
• Experience with consuming data from SAP, QAD, or Solomon ERP's is a plus.
