Position Summary
The Sr. Manager, Global Benefits, will represent the global benefits function on the Total Rewards team. The successful candidate will act as a global benefits leader and resource to HR and have a strong collaborative partnership with finance and legal colleagues. This role is responsible for benefits administration, vendor relations and management, participant support, communication, compliance with US and Canadian employee benefit plans, and retirement and 401(k) plan management. Working closely with and supporting the Director, Global Benefits, HR Ops, and Compliance to shape the strategic direction of Teleflex benefit offerings by conducting benefits benchmarking, gap analysis, and making thoughtful recommendations to ensure our programs' competitiveness and cost efficiency. In addition to the US and Canada, will provide benefits, pension, and policy support to global regions (EMEA, APAC, and LATAM), acting as a consultant to local HR. Support merger and acquisition (M&A) activities, ensuring smooth transitions and integrations of acquired entities into our benefits framework.
Principal Responsibilities
US/Canada Benefits:
Lead in setting and directing the strategy, planning, and administration of effective and competitive US/Canada health, welfare, retirement, time-off, and other benefit programs. A thought leader with a demonstrated ability to approach benefits innovatively. Manages the company's health and welfare plans (including 401(k), medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, HSA, life, AD&D, STD, and LTD), supporting systems, and point solutions. Lead and manage full annual lifecycle of benefit programs for US and Canada-based employees overseeing implementation, communication, enrollment, and administration from preparing documentation to ensuring system configuration and establishing integrations with vendors as needed.
Subject matter expert: able to understand and clearly articulate claims trends, develop strategies for cost mitigation, analyze current patterns of program usage to evaluate effectiveness, ensure adherence to contracts
Act as the escalation point to address benefit issues
Manage all aspects of the benefits budget
Oversee the compliance of the benefit programs, including but not limited to SPDs, Plan Documents, 5500 filings, and Healthcare Reform
Responsible for contract management as well as the preparation and evaluation of bids for vendors and consultants
Project manage Annual Enrollment implementation and communication
Create leave of absence/disability benefit policies communications and address complex issues
Global Benefits:
In partnership with local HR, monitor and identify risks associated with global benefits, such as pension liabilities, health claims, and regulatory changes
Partner with local subject-matter experts in EMEA, APAC, and LATAM to ensure benefits strategies deliver consistent employee experience globally and policies and programs are locally relevant
Provide market data to all regions regularly to ensure benefits remain competitive and adapt to the evolving expectations as needed
Consult and guide global regional HR Partners with benefit costs and funding through various arrangements, including multinational pooling, trusts, and coalitions.
Merger & Acquisition Responsibilities:
Lead benefits due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, assessing the compatibility of acquired organizations' benefits programs with the Teleflex existing framework
Perform due diligence activities for acquisitions and divestitures
Assess risks, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements during integration
Provide ongoing support to employees and leadership of acquired entities during the transition, addressing concerns and maintaining engagement
Partner with local HR Partners in the US, Canada, APAC, LATAM, and EMEA to ensure benefits strategies deliver a consistent employee experience globally and policies and programs are locally relevant.
Education / Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field
8+ years of strategic benefits management, including design, delivery, analysis, budgeting, and communication
1 - 2 years global benefits experience
Experience with leading benefits due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and assessing the compatibility of the acquired organization's benefits and retirement programs
Strong vendor management experience
Experience managing multiple programs in a complex, outsourced environment
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
Strong technical understanding of file transmissions with HRIS systems, payroll and TPAs, data feeds, and data integrity
Strong compliance knowledge and implications of applicable federal and state laws about benefits, including ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, DOL, ERISA, PPACA, etc.
Strong organizational/project management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
