Overview
Central Health's Nurse Informaticist (Epic) is a key leadership role dedicated to enhancing nursing and clinical workflows within the Epic electronic health records (EHR) system. This position bridges clinical expertise and informatics, ensuring that clinical content is thoughtfully designed, implemented, and managed to support care teams in delivering high-quality, equitable care. Under the general direction of the Vice President of Quality, Analytics & Performance Improvement and in collaboration with nursing leadership, this position will collaborate closely with clinical staff, Epic application analysts, Epic trainers and other stakeholders to create and optimize tools, templates, and documentation processes that enable clinicians to work efficiently and practice at the top of their license. Your efforts will play an important role in improving patient outcomes, streamlining care delivery, and advancing health equity.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff and technical teams to ensure clinical needs are accurately translated into Epic solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain evidence-based nursing content and workflows in the Epic EHR system (e.g., clinical documentation templates, order sets, care pathways).
- Ensure clinical content supports efficient workflows, quality care delivery, and equitable health outcomes.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, leadership, Epic analysts and traininers, analytics, IT, and other stakeholders to identify gaps and areas for workflow improvement.
- Identify and address inefficiencies or bottlenecks in documentation, ordering processes, or other system workflows.
- Lead or contribute to EHR implementation, optimization, and upgrade projects.
- Regularly review and update content to align with current clinical best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.
- Collaborates with trainers to develop and deliver effective training materials and programs, ensuring clinical staff are proficient in Epic tools, workflows, and best practices.
- Support end-users, including at elbow support, during system upgrades, new implementations, and optimization projects.
- Partner with Epic application analysts, analytics and reporting and Quality teams to evaluate the impact of clinical content on care delivery, outcomes, efficiency and reporting.
- Serve as an Epic super-user, providing expert support and guidance on nursing team workflows and system functionalities.
- Use data to inform decisions, monitor performance, efficient EHR utilization and identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to promote equitable care and enhance patient safety.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and deliverables for clinical content initiatives.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and meet clinical and organizational objectives.
- Work with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure all clinical content and workflows comply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Maintain thorough documentation of processes, changes, and updates within the EHR system.
- Stay abreast of new applications and innovations being rolled out by Epic, evaluates their relevance to clinical workflows, and collaborates with stakeholders to assess potential implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with Epic EHR systems, particularly in clinical documentation, order sets, and workflow optimization.
- Strong understanding of nursing informatics principles, including the integration of clinical knowledge and information systems to improve patient care.
- Ability to interpret and apply evidence-based practices to develop clinical content and workflows.
- Basic proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, with the ability to evaluate outcomes and support decision-making.
- Deep knowledge of nursing practices, protocols, and standards of care across a variety of clinical settings.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and healthcare quality metrics, ensuring compliance within EHR workflows.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with clinicians, technical teams, and leadership.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in EHR build, testing, and implementation processes.
- Expertise in change management, including training clinical staff and supporting adoption of new workflows.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills to identify inefficiencies and propose practical, technology-driven solutions.
- Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
