The Radio Communications Team seeks to fill a position at the Radio Communications Technician 2 level with a qualified applicant who has the knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrating appropriate knowledge and experience.

- Performs a variety of skilled technical communications services activities for the City's Public Safety agencies, external Public agency partners, the Regional Lane County District 911 Communication Center, and other divisions/departments within the city of Eugene; these responsibilities include analysis, maintenance, enhancement and replacement of existing communication infrastructures, networks, equipment, and software; including mobile, portable and fixed-station communications equipment such as conventional/trunked/simulcast LMR systems, short haul and long haul microwave platforms, mobile communication systems, IP telecom systems, communication system networks and public address systems. Other key responsibilities also include providing a high level of customer service as well as knowledge of FCC regulatory requirements pertaining to LMR Systems and/or other communication platforms.

Experience:
Four years of current full-time experience in the troubleshooting and repair of communication / electronic equipment.
Training:
Completion of a two-year electronic or technical program from an accredited trade school, college or university; OR
Completion of a MOS/AFSC technical training courses from an accredited radio or electronics system repair support level military school; OR
Completion of a course of study or training program in radio and telecommunications electronics as offered either by an educational institution, military service, or through an internal company-training course such as Motorola Technical courses.
License or Certificate:
Possession of or have the ability to obtain within twelve months of appointment the following:
A valid Oregon driver's license or, the ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard. Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355).
