Overview
The Assistant General Counsel and Director of Commercial Negotiations will provide commercial legal support to Buc-ee's procurement team at our Austin, Texas office. This role will offer legal counsel to the Director of Procurement, the Executive Manager, and other senior leadership, specifically in the negotiation of legal terms for commercial transactions. Additionally, the position involves tracking and reporting on the progress of ongoing commercial negotiations.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with procurement and marketing departments to deliver commercial legal services effectively
- Work closely with other members of the Legal Department to ensure that the interests of the Company are protected
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Advise senior leadership on contract status, legal risks, and business terms
- Develop solutions to complex legal issues
- Assess and manage the tracking of commercial transactions, evaluate productivity of commercial negotiators, and provide independent summaries to senior leadership regarding the status of negotiations
- Support senior management in evaluating business and transaction-related risks.
- Identify and implement new technologies to enhance the efficiency of the Legal Department
- Uphold confidentiality at all times
- This position requires in-office presence; remote work is not an option
- It is an essential function of this job for the employee to work in office/in the employee's assigned work site. No remote work is available

- Employee must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Licensed to practice law in Texas or licensed in another state with eligibility to become licensed in Texas within one year
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a nationally recognized law school
- Experience with an AM Law 100 law firm is preferred
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in business, engineering, or the sciences
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience
- Strong analytical skills
- In-house counsel experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required
- Proficiency in Lexis and Westlaw is required
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements is essential
